Sony = 35-50 Gig in ROM
MS = 9 Gig ROM + 20 GIG HDD

Sony has more storage period. IF Sony can find a way to deliver to devs the flexibility of an HDD through their format....

This bs needs to stop .

Ms has 9 + 9 + 9 + 9 till whenever they feel like stoping . As does sony have 30 + 30 + 30 till they stop .

However if you really think devs are going to fill up more than 15-20 gigs of storage this gen your crazy . That is alot of money to make that content . Modern pc games are not even close to that .

Blue-Ray\DVD=READ ONLY

Hard Drive=READ\WRITE

Not to mention the HUGE performance difference between a hard drive and optical media.

Ever try running the Widows XP OS off of a DVD with 512 MB of RAM?

Yes yes i know this ;) thats why i put in the last sentence... especially cause devs cant agree that the HDD will be used as effectively as we hoped (texture storage etc.)

Is the BR spec now up to 30GB for SL or something? I read Panasonic was testing that, but I don't remember seeing the official spec changing from 25GB. *goes to check google* PEACE.

I think the Bauldur's Gate and Champions of Norrath series

Did you guys play Morrowind? How can you compare that to BG?
Why are you replying to this statement long after replying to other posts that came after this where we were discussing how much data is needed? We've been over it's possible, but needs data, how much, could flash do it...and now you go back to some example just pointing out what can be done already as indicator to what might be possible in future? :?

I'm guessing that game x has to be at least as impressive as game y (as far as subjectivity can take you), before he can even begin to consider the principle. It's an easy stance to take if you already know ahead of time that no game can be made to compare to game y (once again, as far as subjectivity can take you). Additionally, he places the restriction of "all or nothing", for absolutely no shades in between or that a continuum can even possibly exist. So essentially we have game y uses a harddrive, harddrives are good, therefore game y cannot possibly be made to exist with anything less that a harddrive. ;)
