Naughty Dog's Intergalactic The Heretics Prophet (PS5, PC?)

I think graphics in game will not be 100% be same, but some 90% will be. And that already will put this game to first place of graphics on any platform. Looks above Hellblade 2 in terms of face details and animation. About other moments, can say yet for sure. But probably this game will surpass Hellblade 2 in every aspect for sure. And without UE5.
I disagree here. ND has always come out with RT cutscenes and this doesn't look any different than the PS4 ones. I see RT reflections but that's about it. HB2 in cutscene looks significantly better and the downgrade in real gameplay isn't so jarring.

ND started this game in 2020. It's going to be based on their engine tech specific to PS5 with possibly RT reflections. Their focus is not technology but gameplay and this game will be no different.

But I don'tr think development entered active phase before release of TLOU 1 Remake, and mostly they done some "paper" stuff of this game. Also when they developed TLOU 1 Remake they got some experience with PS5 and also made some improvements to the engine.

If it was in pre-production for a very long time and started production in 2020, expect to see the game soonish. If they just wrapped up pre-production and started production now, oh boy. It could be a while.

"Naughty Dog’s next game is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, currently in development for the PlayStation 5 console. We’ve been working on this brand-new adventure since 2020! This game is shaping up to be our wildest, most creative story yet. If you haven’t already, check out the announcement trailer: "

..."Our narrative goals are rivaled only by our gameplay ambitions. This will be the deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog’s history, taking our learnings from our previous franchises and pushing them beyond anything we’ve ever done before. "

There is no reason to think that ND will somehow pull out a full RT pipeline that matches some of the high end graphics games we've seen which are totally unplayable on the PS5. The hardware just isn't there.

guys, let's not overly yuck people's yum here.
I'm okay with first impressions, but we don't need to hammer fence posts into the ground, very little has been shown here.

Technical rendering discussion we may want to move this out to another thread. Let game discussion happen here.
But I agree that we are hardware capped, but that is probably a better discussion elsewhere as if there are people that want to talk story, environment, gameplay, this should be the place for that.

I think they wrapped up pre-production somewhere before TLOU 1 Remake release. So active production is now some 2 years, that means they need some 1.5 - 2 year more at best. Maybe this is why they haven't showed released date yet.

No offence but have you red my message? They said they've been working from 2020 yes, but that also could mean they made some sketches, working on some ideas about game in general, as I said "paper" work. Active development is something different.

From Raf Grassetti who did an excellent job as an artist and designer with SM.
I wonder if he did work on the project before officially announcing his return to PS family and joining ND.
Or if he means he is still working on the game right now.
I believe the game will probably hit 2026.
I just wonder as they describe it as a narrative driven game like ND does if we will be able to roam freely on the planet.
I remember people hinting i think that the game will have a lots of freedom.

I really like the sci-fi setting. people were asking for something like this when they showed savage starlight arts in TLOU back then.
Still need to see more of the retro sci-fi inspired theme of the game.
And of course see the new techs and tricks the game has to offer.
As for the trailer I really like the cloth physic so far in the shot. And the water splash at the end of the trailer.
Still wonder how it will look in the final game. Like the next marvel 1943 game we haven't seen much but looked impressive to see.
We still at least 4 years before Sony's probable next gen hardware and current console hardware are probably showing a bit of fatigue maybe.

Are you claiming they didn't do any software development in 2020-2024?

I said they probably started active work in 2022, after TLOU 1 Remake was completed, befor that they did pre-production.

TLOU remake was probably a very small team of junior staff and outsourcing. I think it’s more likely this has been in active development prior to that.

They had one game cancelled TLOU Factions GAAS but out of this, and it seems they choose to do a game at 60 fps and not 30 fps. This is great.

So, 60fps with this visual quality [RT reflections] on base PS5? Impressive.

I like Cowboy Bebop setup but final gameplay scene is worrying. Blade fighting + look kinda cartoonish ?

In TLOU2 documentary, ND devs really wanted to implement combat and narrative approach of Bloodborne and other souls games. But as the time went on and technical realities pushed back, they went with the traditional linear gameplay for TLOU2.

She take a gun too. I think maybe not a full TPS some heavy moment CtoC combat with the blade like a soul's.

Yeah i remember, they said Neil wanted the drastically change the game entirely and they had a 4 month built with open world and focused only on melee.
In the trailer we see Jordan using a gun and the blade. But I wouldn't mind having a dynamic gameplay with shooting from Uncharted series and melee from TLOU II.
But yeah please for the melee combat don't make something souls like.
Also first ennemy is a robot so i wonder if we will eventually have human or creature flesh ennemies and if they will tone down violence and blood in this game.
I believe they re probably keeping TLOU part III for last before next gen Hardware.
As for the title I don't rally like the Heretic prophet lol. but we ll see.

Not sure, nd was always pushing graphics possiblility on consoles, with 60fps cap its not possible

Former dev animator analysis of the trailer.
What does stand out to me is the reflections on the sides on the crt screen and on one of the big poster or photo.
But yes the facial animation is well done too and the subtle change of her mood and eye movements.
