Maybe they could use 1T-SRAM instead to make Nappe happy? 
Anyway, it's unlikely we'll see embedded RAM in a high-end GPU for some time, given the possibility of decreasing yields and clock speeds. Once the technology matures, however, I imagine we'll see a day when all of our graphics memory is on-chip.
