I completely disagree here. Extreme rubberband AI is just a clutch for weak AI in the first place. It completely ruined the game and added to the gamers' frustration. Make a slightly less perfect turn the last corner 3 cars rush past, restart game, rinse and repeat. A game should reward good driving, and not completely ignore it until the final 50 virtual meters. It's unfair and completely breaks the game.
Are you saying there aren't any events where you can have a large lead early on if you drive good in the game? Just curious.
Anyway, maybe that's the difference between "casual" racers like myself and hardcores.
Motorstorm is the only racer I really liked since Lotus days.
I want to be able make mistakes early in the race, I want those last second wins, I want to be able to see the others, not left behind around the first corner, I want the trill of knowing that they are just behind me, waiting for me to make a mistake.
I can also argue the fact that rubberband AI gives you more tolerance early in the race lets the player get used to the track with that vehicle. Assuming most mistakes are made early, isn't that the better racing model?
I'm glad they have rubberband AI, I would not play the game otherwise.
In other racers I tried, when I crush or spin at any point, I simply restart, where is the joy in that?
Of course at later tickets, the effect of rubberband AI disappears completely making the discussion mood.
