So I`m ramping up for getting the 2900 a sister, and I`m in the process of getting a PSU. You`d think that I`d rather not be a cheap-ass in this aspect, but...I amNot as much a cheap ass as I`m unconvinced by the only high-profile PSUs that are available here in my country, those being the Enermax 1000w(heard it has bad rippling and I`m not that hot for Enermax), the Silverstone 1000w(80mm fan?No thanks, I don`t want to go mad from the noise), the Tacens 1000w(anybody know anything about this one) and the Sunbeam 1000w(80mm fan again, and I`ve never heard about them, even though Jonnyguru seems to have a review unit). Those are the high profile ones I can get, from which the Silverstone and the Enermax are expensive as hell(about 300E, more or less).
Which takes me to my dilemma:I`m pondering getting an 850w unit(ATi seems to think these are OK for the 2900s...well, at least some of em). The choices would be the OCZ GameXtream 850W(which is basically a Fortron unit from what I`ve seen, which is good, but it has only two PCI-E connectors, which is bad) or the Silverstone Strider 850W(modular, sexy, not hugely expensive, read about some issues it had feeding G80s). These are also constrained by what I can actually get in this forgotten corner of the world(Romania ).
Since I know there are very knowledgeable guys when it comes to PSUs around here, I hope at least one of em takes the time to rip me a new one explaining why I`m being uber dumb and what I should actually get. It is worth mentioning that along the two 2900s there are going to be 4GB of ram, one of the new Intel quad-cores with 1333 FSB(or if I can delay my craving enough, a Penryn), and two SATAII drives.
