Microsoft E3 Conference 2011

Let's see the hardcore games (exclusives):
MW3
Tomb Raider
Ghost Recon
Mass Effect 3
Gears 3(announced at last E3)
Ryse(seems to be on rails first person fighting game using only kinect)
Forza 4(no gameplay,just replay/garage/cgi stuff)
Fable 4(?:nope:)
Halo 4
(I'll give you that, but just CGi trailer...ofc people are dissapointed)

That's plenty of stuff, and there's certainly going to be a lot more material from all these games until the end of the week.
I'm not so sure about this..:people are dissapointed because there was lack of gameplay on exclusive side and beside Halo 4 we knew exactly what to expect from them.People wanted more core exclusives using controller and more gameplay footages instead of cgi trailers.

You speak of the details of the deals with tv channel or is it something secret they did not say a word at?

I do know there were plenty of rumors of last minute deals. Probably couldn't close it in time?

Lots of 2012 announcements here too by the way. Anyway, I did want to point out that Minecraft exclusive for 360 and with Kinect is interesting.

Can't say, but it's not just one thing. There are a number of things i'm excited about coming this year that were not covered in the press conference. Might be detailed at the booth for all I know. They only had an hour and a half. Apple takes longer than that to tell us that you can now use the volume button to take pictures... :)

It's becoming increasingly obvious that MS has no interesting in using E3 conferences to market to hardcore gamers. They're using it to try to tap into the outliers, the casual family gamers. They can push their hardcore titles in other ways, because hardcore gamers read IGN, Eurogamer, Gametrailers etc.

Not really impressed with the sound of the Kinect titles. Not interested in on-rails games. Seems like there's a bunch of stuff for kids, that might be good if I actually had kids.

If that is the goal, then they had the Kinect on shows like Oprah and Ellen ( I think, did not see it myself.) E3 has always been fairly hardcore and stacked with gaming press. How many house spouses watched the live show today? This seems a very poor choice. Despite some nifty tech demos and the TV news, I guess Halo4 was new?

Lol!

Anyway, before I forget, Dance Central 2 two player update is definitely an important addition.

EDIT: they may also space out a few things for the other conferences this summer (there are always at least 3 big ones ;) ).

Well we did know it was going to be very kinect focussed. My problem is the kinect games they showed were not really much to rave about either, i dont think they have done much to change impressions on kinect which is what i would have liked. It amounted to voice commands (which are not new to shooters) and menu/UI navigation plus on-rails stuff for the core games, and some pretty lame kids stuff.

Its a shame they dont let the voice stuff work with kinect work with the headset every xbox owner has. I would have liked to have the option of voice control in ME3, but im not going to buy kinect for it.

Of that list, the only truly new stuff was Halo 4 and Ryse. With H4 being leaked hours before the PC. (Not criticizing that part, just seemed sloppy.) Ryse looked... underwhelming. Not sure what I really expect from these anymore. Tech demos were fairly cool though.

MS doesn't like to announce many games years in advance, they never have. I'm not sure what's so surprising about that this year. I'm pretty sure Ellen never opened an episode with a MW3 trailer or had Cliffy B on stage playing Gears with Ice T.

There may have been a focus on Kinect, but they certainly covered a lot of 'gamer' titles.

Surely you can see why people would feel a little deflated though? A better H4 trailer (and keeping it secret) may have made up for it a bit, but even that was a bit of a letdown.

It's also covered by the mainstream media, and people will see clips on the news, or in newspapers or major magazines. Those are the headlines they're looking to make.

It has been pointed out they mentioned a lot of core titles coming out this fall, some of which are multiplatform, but nevertheless a good lineup for the holidays. The hybrid titles will be interesting.

I don't think Fable: The Journey is Fable 4, as it's just an on-rails "spell-caster&sword-swinger".
Not even Molyneux would blow the big name on that.

I hope.

Yeah, I would presume it is what Dead Space: Extraction was to Dead Space 2.

Strangely enough, I cannot recall ever seeing a bit about E3 on the nightly news. Beyond some blurb about "Those gaming nuts held a convention today."

Problem is there are not many headlines to make in casual media from what kinect games they showed. The big thing they showed was Star Wars, which they showed already and probably was more impressive in the pre-canned original showing.

Yeah, I'm not saying the strategy would definitely work. I just think that's what they're looking for. The guys who play Halo 4 will buy it regardless of whether they show a sneak peak at E3 or not. We'll be inundated with info about all of the hardcore titles through all of the usual gaming media.

I dont have space for a kinetic at my place.

Still stuff like SW seems like the point and shoot games from wii so not a very big loss, yet.

Phill spencer spoke on gt and said Ryse(codename:Kingdoms) is a controller with kinect game.
Shame no ingame sequence maybe gamescom.
Still wonder wtf Budapest has made in that year.
