Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard King for $69 Billion on 2023-10-13

There are/were 2 twitter blue and changed it later to dark blue (in dark mode only?) before they paused the sub.

People normally don't look at the @name and think it's the real one because of the check mark 😅

I followed CPF when everything was normal on Twitter.

Yeah, it seems like the new owner of Twitter didn't even bother to look into why the check mark existed in the first place before making the recent changes. I don't know why any organization, corporation, or person of note will continue to post there. Hopefully, he won't be stubborn, and course corrects.
Though with that said the tweet from the EU appears to be real. Here are some takes on it.

Excellent news. Then Microsoft will not doubt be willing to provide whatever legal mitigation assurances that regulators require and this aspect of the acquisition will no longer be a sticking point. Interview promises and twitter commitments are not legally binding, FYI.

Microsoft then need to address all the other concerns that they've been publicly ignoring whilst pretending this was all about PlayStation and Call of Duty.

Sure gotta make sure that fair and impartial government employee gets to play call of duty on his playstation

The inquiry in this M&A case is different: it's the biggest M&A in gaming, one of the biggest in tech. It has wide-reaching consequences in a variety of different markets, some of them nascent, and has the very real possibility of just outright creating insurmountable barriers of entry in these nascent markets for anyone but, maybe, some other trillion dollar company.

Besides that, regulatory agencies just wised up to the fact that they spent the past two decades being way too lenient with big tech in these matters and doing that put us into this hellhole that that is Meta controlling an outsized slice of social media worldwide, for instance.

So yeah, scrutiny will be way more intense. It should be.
well, almost nobody gives anything for free. MS must simply up the ante and say what are they going to do after the acquisition if they want this to be successful. Afaik, initially the EU released a questionnaire for developers from other companies in the industry about their perception on the deal, dunno what happened with that part of the process.

They probably shouldn't have used "on our to do list" if it was only his personal opinion.
Came here to say this. This is the danger of personal, direct communication by a government employee that can be easily mistaken as the position of the organization they work for. If you do look at Cardoso's profile, he defines himself by his job title, and while there is a note stating "views: mine", he rarely tweets anything not about government work. It's easy to see why people would think this is a member of the commission stating a commission position.

Where is roll eyes icon when you need one.

“I'm no more sighted of the concerns raised by Microsoft's competitors than you are, but remind yourself that the UK CMA report was clear that "Most competitors raised concerns" on this and other points“

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick in an interview with CNBC and reported by SeekingAlpha stated he has no concerns over Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard. He says most of his competitors feel the same way.

"Well there's one big company that is, but apart from that no," Zelnick said. "Generally speaking I don't think people are particularly concerned because it remains a fragmented business."

Looks like Sony=most of the competitors.

The findings/ arguments are very weak and this social media drama is unprofessional. This is already great shitshow and looks like Deep vs Herd 2.0

Looks like Sony=most of the competitors.
Well they are if you consider they are 1 of the 3 companies that sell consoles. They are 50% of the competitors.
In most ways Take Two is a partner with Microsoft, or Sony for that matter. They have a business agreement that makes them both money. The same is true for every 3rd party publisher.

More than that. They're 100% of competitors after their hand-waving away that Nintendo doesn't count.
