Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

Kojima humor running wild again

Looks like PS4 version

One of the things they've definitely improved are the particle effects. In the last year's GDC demo fire looked awful but now it looks very natural. The sprites seem to be based on simulations rather than being hand made.

Kojima still makes the best trailers.

Having now seen the English trailer, and waiting till end hear what Snake says, it is such a horrible idea to change voice acters. Especially after all this time. His old voice and the character are one and the same for me. I really don't care if the new guy is technically a better actor. Not really from what little has been shown so far.

I haven't seen the trailer yet, but from what I've seen and heard so far in GZ, yes indeed. I miss David Hayter. Kiefer, as good as he may be, is just not Snake.

Loved that trailer. Thanks to Ground Zeroes I also know the gameplay is ace, so I'm just hella pumped for that game. Kojima is the man, and I think the games industry is in dire need of more people like him. Save for the Housers, he's pretty much the only person in the industry with enough clout to make a big budget game the way he sees fit.

The Eurogamer preview article makes it all sound even more awesome. Juxtaposing Mark Twain with next gen 1080p/60 horse shit? - Who wouldn't wanna play a game that's basically a commentary on the atrocities of war plus Goat Simulator all rolled into one neat AAA package.

It's amazing how realistic it looks. It's not amazingly detailed or complex but looks awesome. Mainly due to the lighting I assume. The aliasing still annoys me. I spotted it even in that borderline-HD youtube video that leaked.

Animations are far better and responsive than in any older MGS game...

And Fulton balloons are necessary for gathering of soldiers and goods because players can create and maintain their own military base at the sea [balloons were first introduced in Peace Walker]. Everything that is shipped to the air is brought there and tasked for various missions (expansion of the base, research of new equipment that can be delivered to the player on the ground, intelligence services). Mother Base management plays very well in hand with the storyline of the game that described Big Boss as a hero who had his own army.

They will show much more about Mother Base and its systems in todays stream [45mins away :) ].

I have to admit, due to some advice here, I've ordered and been playing a bit of Peace Walker (on the PS3) and am still learning the ins & out of how to evolve soldiers, gadgets and weapon at Motherbase. So there's a clear indication that this will also be a big part of Phantom Pain?

I really need to progress further in Peace Walker...

I don't mind the concept of the balloons, but the way they shoot up in the air, irrespective of the weight of their load (but even then), is just weird to me. If that's possible at that speed, then why aren't we launching rockets like that yet?

Also, I believe that the animations are better (the running certainly looks better), but the way the enemy soldier moves doesn't look like much of an improvement imho and stood out to me instantly.

...for the same reason, there's still a box in the game, where Snake, as silly as it may be, can walk around and fool enemy soldiers in a funny way. Or throw a mens magazine in the path of a soldier to momentarily sidetrack him... IMO this just all belongs to the humour (and brilliance) that is MGS.

In so many areas, MGS is pure realism and authentic, yet at the very same time remains foremost funny entertainment creating unforgettable moments in gaming. I still think MGS2 had some of the most funny scenes and dialog EVER. :D
