Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain & Ground Zeroes

I'm not sure, but I think I downloaded a version once for my PSP and was kind of disgusted of playing a mutilated MGS on that tiny small screen with awkward controls. I quit playing it pretty much within the first 5 minutes. I think that was Portable Ops, but I'm not really sure now. I think you were Snake and on a beach in the beginning?

I guess I should really give Peace Walker a try (another if it was that) though...

I got the BR disk with MGS2, MGS3 and PW for the PS3. PW offers the option to also play it on PSP. I tried it. Didnt like it at all on the PSP. But the HD 60fps version of PW on PS3 was simply great. Brilliant.

I'm not implying it. I'm outright saying it sucks and I think people that like it have bad taste.

A 90 minute game for $40 is a huge ripoff. I hope you'd not buy it, just to tell the industry it's not ok.

Most of the popularity that goes with the series comes from it's fan base not really from first time buyers. Most people still buy metal gear games for just the lore, and also the semi classic mechanics which have minorly changed since MGS3. that's about it really.

------------------------------------------------------------------

spinoffs could be made for the newcomers but MGS's best story plots come from the connection to character Big Boss and his imprint in the series.

For face value of MGSV: GZ, it's up the fan base choice. I'm holding off until either a discount, a bundle is made with both games; or the PC release. (cause i got myself a fancy rig ;) )

Twitter quotes from western press:

Finished GZ for the first time in about 90 minutes. Total game completion? 9%. I think that tells you all you need to know.

A lot of exposition that would have been in cutscenes before is now on audio tapes. Don’t have to pause to listen, thankfully

The whole thing feels faster paced as a result, less reliant on cutscenes with more storytelling through gameplay. It’s great.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. Just saw the ending. Goosebumps. Disbelief. Shock. *reboots game* I’m going back in.

It’s lovely to see how intense @HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN’s passion is for proper, epic, emotionally driven, high-end productions.

I’d like to point out that this game is not a 2 hour game… Ground Zeroes is a great demonstration of the FOX Engine.

The game now really requires you to look at your surroundings. Objects make noise and get knocked around. Nice on @Konami.

Every soldier in Ground Zeroes has a unique appearance. Their faces, taken from real photos, appear only once per game.

To finish mgsv in 2 hours is like going out for dinner with charlize theron and take her to mcdonalds.

After completing the main mission and a side mission in 4 hours the game says I’m at 10% completion. Sounds good to me

So yeah, the main mission of Ground Zeroes is short. BUT, you really are not going to find and discover everything in 2 hours.

Controls are much, much better than in MGS4. Really easy to do all the stuff you want, easier to interrogate enemies etc.

Btw, the frame rate is butter smooth on PS4.

I’m only playing on PS4, but I think Mr Kojima has already said that the PS4 version is smoother than the One version.

They have PS4 and Xbox One here, I don’t think I’ve seen a last gen version.

Completed a full-stealth run of MGSV:GZ. Stealth is the best it’s been yet. Controls are more fluid while staying true to MGS.

I’m finding 3-5 distinct ways of achieving every objective using only stealth. Going for gun-down run next.

Fox Engine’s facial animations are the best in the industry. Ending to MGSV:GZ is extremely impressive and emotional.

GROUND ZEROES HAS NO CARDBOARD BOXES :OOOOOOOOO

Re: story, the main mission basically has two cut-scenes - and you've already seen one of them. Suspect this was deliberate move by Kojima

MGS GZ update: played through all missions (about 5 hours) but still only at 22%, according Snake's chain smoking menu screen.

Just chalked off another Side Op, which involved running from a tank. Been playing 4 hours now and apparently at 18% complete

Not sure I can say much about the main GZ story mission, but it features one of the most gruesome scenes I can remember in a game

There are lots of sandbox meta games for online competition; longest distance headshot etc.

Right so I'm currently playing through GZ's Side Ops. They add new objectives to the main story's Cuba base. Some stealth, some action

The PS4 version of Ground Zeroes is gorgeous. Quite a lot better looking than the Xbox One version, too… controversy…

From all this it seems its a better buy to get this $30 than to get a new game $60 !

And no cardboard boxes :( ? Not even for fun ?!!!

When does this arrive ?!?!? I wants wants ! Gotta play PW too, before this hits !
And 1080p60fps FTW :p !

5 hours of playtime seems more reasonable, but that's still on the low side of game time. Not the travesty 90 minutes would have been. I'd still be cautious and see how much playtime others get out of it before buying.

bu...bu...but...MGS was 3rd grade storytelling and a crap game....why would you buy it even if it gives LOTS of playtime?? :p ...

I would never buy it, because I think the series is shit. Even if it were free, I still wouldn't play it. If I were to buy it, I'd still be cautious about the playtime. 5 hours is definitely within the realm of a reasonable purchase. It's on the pricier side of things.

Ok we get it ;) You wouldnt have played it even if it was 100 hours. So actually the length of the game is irrelevant and not your real problem which renders you initial complaint pointless. You believe the series is shit and thats it and you have something against those that get a wonderful experience from it because they pay for what you believe is shit. The rest of us pay what we wouldnt have payed for other games because we think Kojima does something special with the series that others never replicated or can replicate.

No, my complaint was that they were trying to sell a 90 minute game for $40 (based on reports that now seem to be incorrect). I'm a big fan of the Fable series. If someone tried to sell me a 90 minute, $40 Fable game, I'd tell them to go fuck themselves. I happen to hate the Metal Gear series, but that's not the issue here.

Umm.....;) ! so, you are not buying or is it ? :p .

just jesting, don't take it the wrong way :)

Nobody ever said it was a 90 minute game. They said you could finish it in 90 minutes. The game is obviously much larger than those initial reactions suggested.
