Maya 5 is getting hardware rendering support

It says that nvidia is helping them put it in, but it further states that all programable shader GPU's will work so ATI will get the benefits as well apparently.

I know it is from the inquirer, but since it is not really sensational maybe its true :).

A professional looking at the image produced would notice the difference but the average person wouldn't. That makes it perfect for producing fast 3D effects for television or highly detailed and accurate previews of film quality work.

The one downside for Nvidia is that it doesn't get an exclusive on the technology it helped Alias|Wavefront to create. Maya 5 hardware rendering will work with most programmable graphics chips.
