My wife changed her profile picture on Faceballs and posted up asking if anyone is interested in coming:
Badlands is in Attica, Indiana. About an hour, hour and a half drive south of here to the heart of Trumpland. No masks, no mandates, and people all over wearing Trump apparel. Add to that the fact that my wife does zero prep work for these trips, she thinks we can just hop in the Jeep and go. She doesn't consider the tow straps, tree harnesses, pulleys, boots, gloves, towel, hand tools, boots (I still need hip waders), plus water and some food in case.
I gotta prep the Jeep for it, I get to fix it when we get it home however she breaks it. She doesn't listen to my advice on driving or paths to take even though that's my one bloody job as spotter and I'm expected to just fix/make better any problems that come up.
She STILL hasn't talked to me about it, just posted up on FB asking if anyone is interested. I have NOT responded to it.
This has been an issue for me since we got the Jeep. What's the point of intentional beating the shit out of it for giggles? I still haven't quite fixed the funny noise the tailgate is making from last time. (I think she dented the back gate with the spare tire holder and it's bonging the dent in and out, but I was working on the headlight swap and putting the doors and top back on last time I played with her and didn't get around to it)
Also our kids share my feelings on 4x4ing, but they just tell her no and stay home. My wife keeps trying to make it a family fun adventure and can't understand our reticence and going and being bounced around and uncomfortable vehicle after driving for a long time in it just to hopefully not get it stuck/unstick it and don't break it and then get a really long ride home after getting very tired of being in the damned Jeep all day.
Sorry, had to rant somewhere. The only ones who will see it here will be my kids but that's ok since I'm open with my feelings about it. Hell, I'm open with my wife about my feelings on it but she just really likes driving off-road so it ain't hard to talk me in to it. (Yes, I'm still a sucker for making my wife happy...damn it.)
Ugh, so unsure of what to do! With her new store, (she's still working for CVS, they just put her in charge of a less busy store due to her back problems), and new schedule we have like no weekdays off and it's weird just having weekends. Still adjusting.
REALLY not sure what to do about this weekend except to get ready for it and accept it as gracefully as possible, and over medicate on everything I can find to get through it. :|
Curious, did anyone really think I liked going off-roading? I'd enjoy it if I had a little dirt bike, but the Wrangler is just a beast and chugs through everything. I wanna spit dirt/gravel and jump, not trawl.
Thanks again for letting me rant, even if no one reads it it's nice to get it out. Makes me feel better, muchos gracious.
