I'm not the one to confirm or to deny that... ;)
Based on what? I will see when the chip is release, if , for ME, it's disapointing or not. And since i'm not under NDA (as many people over here who make assumptions ;)), i'll be only able to judge aginst the rumors and the great R300 :)

I am officially recanting my claim that the Nv30 is a 4x4.

I am now officially endorcing that the Nv30 is an 8x2 architecture.

the *Dope* i was using has worn off...

Useless comment, remove...

Well.. My first 3D GC was a Nvidia card(Riva TNT2 Ultra) so guess i'm a Nvidia fan .. but if the NV30 disappoints me.. I will change over to the 9700 Pro.

Just hope it doesn't.

I'm just wondering.. since Nvidia bought over 3DFX and has it's technology.. could the NV30 be having the same type of problems that 3DFX had with the Rampage/Daytona???

If it's ever released at all that is...

If they keep pushing the release date back 2 months, every 2 months, then it will never be done.
Wasn't it the first officially confirmed push back? Anyway, it is already done. It's now up to card makers and TSMC. IMO, January is the right time, but we can expect some cards in stores before Christmas.

How do you know its done ? There may be millions of bugs in the chip that they still have to sort out. Who really knows whats going on at nvidia.. I doubt even nvidia knows

I doubt that Nvidia would be launching NV30 in less than 2 weeks if it still had serious bugs. That would put them in an even worse position than they are already in. Waiting months for an unannounced part is one thing, but waiting the same amount of time for a GPU that has already been launched is another. The Nvidia CEO himself said that they have been very impressed with yields, it might be speculation but it sounds as if production is about to commence on the final product.

That didn't stop 3dfx from launching the VSA/V5 line.

Yes. You are correct. To launch when you're months away from product availability is bad. It osbornes your current products. Of course it may not be that bad for Nvidia since ATI has the top-card now.

I hope they provide full specs and prices within the next two weeks.

Because I know, that card-makers already doing thier nv30-cards. That could be possible only if nv30 chip and reference board design is done. Besides, nv's said that nv30 is done (meaning: chip, board, drivers) sometimes in october... :)

Who really knows whats going on at nvidia.. I doubt even nvidia knows

Particularly FSAA/anisotropic implementation info (visual quality/performance...meaning benchmarks!).

TSMC is beginning to make some really large shipments to Nvidia. Check it out:

I wonder what they are shipping? :D
It could be the 4800. The article mentions "sudden" and "unexpected". You'd think they'd have the NV30 properly forcast so that there wasn't any sudden or unexpected about it.

Or maybe they suddenly and unexpectedly solved their manufacturing problems...

NV30 will be announced on Comdex, will ship in limited quantities on December and the mass production will begin in the January-February timeframe. Come on guys, that's a no brainer! :)

The question is how will ATI respond, how powerful of a response that would be and whether NVIDIA would be able to counterattack that response... all depends on the timerframe of ATI's response, which could be more than a few months after NV30's introduction, which would frankly, benefit NVIDIA, as extending NV30's 128-bit memory bus (again, all from the rumours) to 256-bit bus won't be much of a problem for NVIDIA...
