KILLZONE Shadow Fall [PS4]

No sir, maybe you are forgetting the "Park" level. it was full of trees and pink flowers. And the Bamboo forest was all lush green, vektan slums were Star Wars Orange+Cream coloured.

KZ1 had those atmospheric monochormatic levels, Like the swamps, the docks, but also had a lot of colourful ones. I think it will be the same for Shadow Fall.

That was one level, and not one GG would have chosen to market that game while it was in development. Them choosing this new modern and colorfull Vekta for their first showing of their new game is great indication that thats the overall feel the game will have. With variety of course, but with that overal style and tone. The new synth based soundtrack leaves no doubt they are going for a very different direction here. All past KZ games as far as I remember hada very classical orchestral score.

Hmm... I don't know about that. It could be the first level they work on. Most of the games may happen elsewhere, or at different time.

Yes, it's very likely most of the game happens elsewhere, but the mood and art direction is going to be along the lines of this first showing. Devs work hard to capture the essence of their game when first showing it, and usually when they fail is because the first impressions were closer to the teams vision then the game itself, and rarely do they present the game as something completely different than what they are actually aiming for.

The trees had pink leaves, and the rest of the level including the bark on the trees was brown and grey and white. And there was some pale green grass. I remember it well, I just played the HD collection all the way through a month ago :)

This looks way less exciting, and not even as graphically interesting, As Destiny and Titanfall...

It's not demonstrating to me the PS4 exclusive graphical edge I'd want to see, either.

May be the end for the KZ franchise imo if it doesn't sell well again. Guerrilla seem pretty creatively bankrupt.

That forest level at E3 just, really sent my interest down.

But, these e3 stage demo site at Gamespot I just found, seems cool. Even though they often just show the e3 clips rather than play the game. You can watch ajy past demos, and download them, so it's a neat setup

yeah, GG isnt exactly the most creative dev around, most of the new mechanic they introduced into their games were already done in other games, and their version always feel clunkier than other games. Far cry 3 pretty much perfected what they have been trying to do for years. And it even looks like they borrow the gameplay mechanics in shadow fall, dead from above and knife throw.

Rangers has always been negative on Killzone.

That said, the atmosphere of the KZ games has always been great, while GG's "me too" creative (mis)direction has been their biggest liability. If they're going to haphazardly shoehorn in features from COD, Halo, and Battlefield again, it won't be a good game.

GG wasn't kidding about area being much more open.
The gamespot video looks pretty good.
I'm definitely more excited about it now than back in PS meeting.

I am not as impressed by all graphics I've seen so far, but it does look like it will be fun to play and very varied. And I do like the premise.

Does the trailer look good ? Looks so so to me. 8^/

Hope to see their MP levels. Most of the time, I play shooters for the MP.

Fantastic! They have made it competely open ! So they were actually doing it and not just saying it ;) !
My interest has peaked suddenly ! I had been singing praises of Infamous and Destiny and Division to everyone, while speculating about The Order, but this definitely is the "go to" launch title !

and Like Laa-Yosh said, the jungle colours do have a Halo vibe, but the gameplay is completely different fro previous KZs. Attachable ziplines, drones, open levels ! Unexpected from GG.

Can't wait to play the same open settings on the Helghan side of the city :p ! KZ2 feel and new open gameplay !

I see. Behind the forest, there are more areas to explore.

Ooooohhh, they better watch their scope. Or they will become Lair'ed. :)

You think Titanfall is some high benchmark of graphical quality? I have to respectfully disagree. It looked fun and there sure were a lot of things going "bang", but the lighting and even some of the textures resembled a 360 title.
