Ken "Crazy" Kutaragi is at it again!

Talking crazy I assume. Not that I think he is, it's bravado, and many people are not quite bright enough to see through it.

Case in point: http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/showpost.php?p=841962&postcount=7
What's wrong with that?

SONY should just brush off their shoulders and go on about their business, focus on their launch, and make sure the games don't suck! I know the mag was looking for fuel for the fire, but he should've just asked an M$ exec for that. They're not shy to share their feelings about SONY!

I don't think it's bravado. I don't even think it's arragonance. I think it's just pure confidence and total belief in your product that you will achieve your goal...because if you have that, then the competition means jack sh*t! Father of Praystation!? Damn straight! Good on ya, Ken! 4D FTW!!

Kutaragi has said some of the most crazy stuff in this business.
stuff that was completely out of reality. and has given us a good laugh many times.

his latest comments are relatively nothing. and very low toned.

the guy is sad inside.
I am not a specialist of Japanese people, but I think pride is a very high attribute for them. like Greeks.

give him a break!

Thank you for proving that this thread is indeed a waste of space. There's absolutely nothing wrong with his reaction to the competition. It's already implied/known by now that Kutaragi is passionate about his work, and he couldn't careless about who is competing with him so long as he can achieve his goals.

He is a man of character and a character unto himself.

Sometimes I wonder if KK has any idea what he is saying.

All in all though, I like the guy. :D

Why would the guy be sad inside?
Well if you were the founder of the most successful video game business on the planet, I expect you'd be sad too.
Oh wait, I meant "exceedingly happy".

well, until recently he never missed a chance to undervalue the competition,
"the xbox 1.5" and "next gen does not start with 360" are two of his statements that come up in my recent memory,
statements that have fueled the console wars much more than anything else if I can remind you that.

now suddenly he says he doesnt care, and on his recent speech he preferred to talk about oracle client-server systems and gps and satelite photography,
rather than the unique 1080p true HD that he so much loved to talk about until recently.
he apologised to the developers in that conference, and even lowered the price of PS3.

looking at the business perspective, the situation is not exactly "dreamy" and some might say it looks tough for the next couple of years.
shareholders etc are not a thing to be glad, either.
add construction difficulties. add implications of the above.

maybe some of these factors do have some impact on him, because he didnt look like he was on his high spirits the last few times we've seen him.
but then again, maybe its just my impression and I'm wrong.

I don't know. Have you seen SONY pull a public stunt like this?

i found it funny at the end where they undermine alot of it, when then admit to only 1 millon subscibers at that time. which is less than the sales of the sony network adapter. so in a way it's sad that the joke was on them in the end. altho i think live would have cost people more over the years so they were getting more money, but then the user end was far more user friendly.

Huh? It was well made and quite humorous, but high propaganda. They were criticising Sony at every opportunity and when they covered the fact that PS2 had over twice as many subscribers, they conveyed that info with 'they've only got 2.5 million'. At no point did they undermine their position.

IMO a disparaging comment in an interview is more innocuous than spending substantial time and effort crafting a propaganda video to diss your competition!

about ken. ken's a dreamer and sometimes his dreams are away ahead of when they'll be able to be practically implimented. he talks about what excites him and this wiki style piecing together of the world excites him. the ps3 does seem to be following a wiki model in some things. and this could tie into internet communities that are set in virtual worlds. these things you can already get on the pc in some form but making them part of the package introduces them to more people and if they are community based then alot of people need introducing. ken dreams of creating a new internet experience, if not a whole new internet exclusive to the PS3.

with ken tho some of the stuff he's talking about might not happen untill PS4.

Really? So inaccurate statements in a video that's obviously meant to be funny and not taken seriously is worse than inaccurate statements made in a journalist's interview?

Can you elaborate on the selected quote? I don't get it.
