Wow at the PS3 numbers is it possible when trusty bell or LO hits the 360 outsells the PS3 for a week? I wonder how much sony has to be paying to keep MGS4 and FF13 because no way any developer could afford to spend 10+ million dollars on an exclusive for a platform that is doing so poorly in 2 territories.

I think we're going to be seeing a paradigm shift in game developer resources at E3. There's just no other way to spin the utter and total domination of the Wii and DS in all territories.

So the DS is approaching the PS2 for lifetime sales in Japan. I never, ever, would have expected this upon seeing the machine announced. When it lauched, I predicted a flop, too. Hot damn.

The most amazing thing about it is that the DS has only been around for 2 1/2 years or so. The PS2 has been around 7 years.

That's an astonishing sales rate, one that I didn't think could be repeated anytime soon. DS is going to just blow right past it.

The DS is also a handheld device and was launched at a mainstream pricepoint..

I would fully expect a console you can carry around and put in your pocket, that is as novel and successful as the DS to sell more than the PS2 twice over..

GBA was released 2 years after the PS2 and didn't achieve these kinds of sales. Can't say that just because it's a handheld that this is expected.

The DS is definitely on another planet.

yea the Wii and DS have captured Japan and soon... the world. :devilish:

true the DS is doing amazing but to say it comes close to the ps2 aint right
ps2 = 100+million
ds < 50million
(true different time periods but who knows perhaps the ds market will die in a year )

I'm pretty sure he was comparing LTD sales in japan, not WW.

'The DS has already captured the world.' oh wait i meant untrue :D ( btw im not knocking the ds its doing amazing, but its not even halfway to ps2 numbers + we know games is a fickle business(in saying that though i cant see anything altering the ds + wii tornad ofor at least the next 12 months) )

Actually, Tap In and ReadyKilowatt sad that DS has captured the world. I stated that the DS is closing in on the PS2 and will surpass it soon while quoting the Japan #s.

I also stated that the Wii and DS are dominating all the territories, which they are. Any remaining confusion? :)
