Here is one great gameplay video, dude who plays knows what he is doing [dev most probably]
Neon power looks great!
Looks gorgeous, but still strangely deserted.
Deserted? Do you mean pedestrians? Bear in mind he starts out at a military check point and as soon as the shooting starts the few pedestrians scatter. When he's cleaned out this area, around 1:55 mark in the video, he enters a street with a lot more pedestrians all of whom of running away.
Clearly the citizens of Seattle value their lives more than the destruction gawkers of Empire City and New Marais!
That's a convenient excuse.
Did they say that there will still be the same good/bad karma system?
I kinda liked it, if only cause I replayed the games as soon as I finished it the first time around.
It's an observation. They changed the civilian crowd behaviour significantly in inFamous 2. In the first game pedestrians would, for the most part, get out of the immediate way of any trouble then stand around and get caught up anything that followed. In the sequel, with a few exceptions - idiots taking pictures, cops etc - they run away. Far away.
I'm betting this was gameplay related. It's much easier get good karma if you're not worried about collateral damage as much. On both earlier games you would eventually get a power/perk that minimised collateral damage on civilians but it made early progress on the hero path trickier as you had to be precise until the peds were gone or already dead.
Or you can just believe that there are few peds in inFamous Second Son.
I'm not really comparing it to the first two games. I'm comparing it to other open world games. Mostly looking at Assassin's Creed and GTA V here. I think major cities simply need a certain amount of npcs to appear believable. Seattle isn't the boonies.
InFamous 2 had good per density so I don't think the games rendition of Seattle will look barren in this regard. Almost all the screens and videos have focused on the combat which, if the past games are anything too be, means peds have run for cover.I'm not really comparing it to the first two games. I agree I would expect there to be more peds around if you're strolling around town minding your own business, otherwise it's going to look very weird.
I am really curious if you can use vehicles and weapons in his game. Cole couldn't because of the electricity thing but HatGuy should be able too.
Hatguy should also be able to take a bath ! And swim !
