Image Quality and Framebuffer Speculations for WIP/alpha/beta/E3 games *Read the first post*

1024x768 is a sweet spot for sub-HD given that games like MGS4 and Yakuza 3 look fine at that.

Speaking of which, has anyone checked the Yakuza 4 demo out on the JPN PSN? Looks cleaner but I think it may have to do with the use of additional filters than a resolution bump.
 
Anyways whats the AA Just Cause 2 (PS3) has ?
The game looked relatively sharp to me.

Blur Beta 360 is 720p 4xAA along with a pretty good amount of AF. Quite a lot of post-processing with radial blur and grain filter.




A2C on foliage...

Other screenshots I have taken also show a sort of dither for geometry LOD in the environment. Pretty old technique, if quite effective considering the nature of the game.

I was just going through some recent articles & saw remedy mention SSAO in Alan Wake...what interests me is that I am yet to see a single screenshot with any kind of SSAO. Is it just me or its really absent from screenshots released so far..??

For instance if the game had AO it should've been apparent in these areas
