Image Quality and Framebuffer Speculations for WIP/alpha/beta/E3 games *Read the first post*

.. I think I can take lack of AA in exchange for some nice HDR though. I mean, look at Halo 3.

No AA present, but while in game it's certainly hard for me to notice- though there is some motion blur and post effects present which held hide it.

Infamous looks impressive to me, I'm excited. I've been eagerly awaiting another good sandbox title.

surprise that its not NOA32 and at least 2XMSAA like many Sony 1st party games. Performance hits is more critical?

Infamous demo seems to be 1280x720 no AA. Definitely HDR... heh.

I trust you ... I do remember that if you use HDR, then that can cancel out AA sometimes (remember what nAo discusssed about it, I think it was in relation to GT5, including how to avoid it), but I'm sure you took that into account.

Yeah, certain methods of post-processing (tone-mapping/bloom/dof) or blending after resolve would do that. But from what I've seen, there is no evidence of AA. It'd be rather pointless to incur the performance hit from enabling MSAA when the game's effects would cancel AA, visually though. :)

Why does UC2's image quality look smoother than before?
I assume they're still using MSAA2x, maybe it's the new post processing elements they've added.

Has it actually been confirmed by ND that the game is v-synced? Internet video can't really be used to make that determination for sure for a number of reasons.

I don't know but for what I have seen the first video gameplay released had a lot of tearing (same of the first game). The new gameplay footage shows the same situation but without tearing (or very hard to see now) . I don't know if the vsync is ever actived but the improvement is huge and really evident.

No it hasn't be confirmed, but they have stated their engine is much improved and they were very aware of the tearing the first time around (they tried to hide it) and wanted to do something about it.

They did it. I'm not talking of a vsync complete , I'm not sure but the picture is very uniform.
