Image Quality and Framebuffer Speculations for WIP/alpha/beta/E3 games *Read the first post*

aside from the red tint i dont know how you came to that conclusion.

Well, the first two shots end up looking greyer and browner. It's more next gen. The third pic looks warmer and softer on 360, which is bad for a fantasy game.

herp derp derp. Jokes aside, I wonder if it's some bad handling of gamma (console settings included)... or component video capture. I'd really like to know who captured this and how. I've seen some messed up captures where the red channel gets messed up though.

also spotted some lower resolution textures in the baskets in the right side of the second screen on the 360 version.

I was thinking it was a streaming issue considering the general resolution of assets here. It's a very simple looking game.

and you see the light source which is a dead giveaway
Well the giveaway would be the same environment where the light-source isn't in the frame and no visible rays (haven't followed up on Infamous2 so I wouldn't know).
That said, why rag on it for being a screenspace effect, most stuff nowadays is ;) In my current game we're using a proper volumetric cast for the godrays, but it's still done in screenspace.

I don't rag about it, I just don't like when people praise game X about having "real godrays" or so, and usually only to claim some platform superiority thing.

The comparison of XB360 and PS3 SSAO etc. moved away from the Framebuffer and IQ thread, to the Game Technology thread where it belongs.

If you're posting links to DF or LOT comparisons here for any reason other than to pixel count, you're posting in the wrong place. All cross platform tech discussions belong in the Game Tech or per-subject threads.

There's maybe one edge indicative of 720p, but I don't think there's much to get out of the video regarding image quality given the metric ton of compression. :p

Yeah I thought of that right after making the post, it is gametrailers after all. :p

Appreciate you taking the time though. Curious to see whether or not any improvements or changes have been made to their engine since the last game.

MW3 Trailer looks to be 1024x600 2xMSAA. Footage is probably the 360 going by the horrid shadowing on the view weapon (no filtering).

They're talking about Red Faction: Armageddon. MLAA is a post process, it should work on any resolution image you give it. Here's my question, is MLAA applied before or after it is scaled?
