Homosexual Hypocrisy

Pete Stark (search), a central figure in last week's heated argument...

... Not in dispute over the events that led up to the House debate that ensued are the heated remarks by Stark, D-Calif., who was left in the committee room to hold down the fort while Democrats strategized on their game plan.

While no cameras recorded the event, a stenographer took down every word Stark uttered. Republican Rep. Kenny Hulshof recited them back on the House floor.

"'You little fruitcake, you little fruitcake, I said you are a fruitcake,'" Hulshof, R-Mo., read from the unofficial transcript...

...Republican sources also claim that during the chaotic scene in the committee, Stark fired another gay slur in the direction of Chairman Thomas. The word is too vulgar to print in full, but the last half of it is "sucker..."

But, yet the gay community -- in lieu of outrage appearently -- is defending this man and even creating excuses for him.

"I think Congressman Stark's use of the word, he probably regrets having used it. I think he meant nothing by it, but I think in the 2003 context, it's probably a poor choice of words. But it's also important to note that Congressman Stark is one of the gay community's staunchest allies," said Winnie Stachelberg, political director of the Human Rights Campaign.

Can you even imagine if a conservative said this in a house of Congress? You'd have Natoma and his gang moving for resignation and would never hear the end of the "anti-gay" setiment that we supposedly harbor. Hell, look at what happened to Trent Lott based on a comment that was known to be a tongue-in-cheek joke. But yet when some asshole democrat makes these two comments - you don't even hear about it on the national mainstream news.

Unbelievable. But keep supporting them, the democrats care... really.

I would say feminists are equally guilty of such behavior. They speak equality yet they have produced great quantities of divisive hate mantra.

"Natoma and his gang"

:?

I must be pretty big for you to refer to all homosexuals as "Natoma and his gang." That's pretty funny.

Seriously though, first off, I've never known fruitcake to be a "gay slur". Faggot yes. Dyke? Yes. Queer? Sometimes. Fruitcake? No. As for the dicksucker/cocksucker comment. Well geez girls suck dick all the time as well. So it must be a heterosexual women's slur as well. At least we know the democrat is an equal opportunity insulter. A republican would have said "Faggot cocksucker" or "Faggot dicksucker," insulting fellating women everywhere by exclusion and would be rightfully accused of discrimination. I would most certainly call for his/her job then. ;)

p.s.: If you look at my posts about Trent Lott, I said he should have kept his job. ;)

Now that is funny.

come to think of it i can't recall any bisexual slurs

You've got to be joking; I thought you were the oppressed one having to put up with a hostile people. Where's that damage control picture?

Oh please like I'm supposed to know every insult accorded to homosexuals. Bent? Benny? Buzzer? Fruit Salad? I mean c'mon now. Btw, if he were senate leader or something like that I would indeed call for him to step down from his position and receive some form of censure, in the same way that many called for censure on Trent Lott and for him to step down from his post as speaker of the house. However, I thought it was ridiculous that people wanted him to give up his House seat. He was voted there by his state, so he should stay.

cocksucker would be one would it not? hehe.

I think that just about every straight guy knows that "fruitcake" is a non-vulgar gay slur. Given the context of this Congress situation and Stark's particular use of it combined with "cocksucker" (or "dicksucker"), it's obvious what he meant. Even if, like Natoma, you've never heard "fruitcake" before, it shouldn't be that hard to deduce in this case. Given how straight guys tend to insult each other, what else could it possibly mean?

Straight men don't insult women by calling them "cocksuckers", on the contrary that's a desireable trait in women, for the most part. :D

cocksucker would be one would it not? hehe.

I suppose...but the same would be true if i were Michael Moore.

One should judge the nature of the intent speaker and context of the sentance. Its probably safe to assume this was a joking remark concerning the individual's sexual orientation. It should have been ignored by the press and by said political party as many other such cases should have been. Their behavior does appear hypocritical.

yes a c*cksucker can be used as a slur/insult at both a guy or a girl. But it was said to a men, which leads to the obvious conclusion that he meant the other guys was gay. Also, if you dont know that a fruitcake refers to gays, then your not telling us the truth.

....well the man called me fruity. He probably thought i was silly.
then he called me a queer. Maybe he just didn't know i heard him the first time when he said i was silly.
Lastly he called my friends and i faggots. Do you really think we are as thin as twigs?

Well obviously given the nature of the report I realized what he was saying, but I was stating that I had never heard of fruitcake as an insult. Hell I happen to like Fruit Cake actually.

Now as I also stated, if he were a high ranking official I would call for him to lose his position, just as people called for Trent Lott to lose his position. The leaders in the house and senate should not engage in this type of insulting and callousness.

Thing is, this won't get any coverage because frankly homophobic comments are one of the last acceptable prejudices allowed. Though thankfully we're moving away from that, slowly but surely.

smile, lets make excuses for democrats who use gay slurs. :) I guess you wont be able to critize republicans than if we do it too. ;) thanks, now i dont have to worry about insulting anyone. :devilish:

You make absolutely no sense epicstruggle. Maybe it's the language barrier or something.

So yea. I'm making excuses for democrats. Just as I was obviously lying when I said I didn't know fruitcake was an insult.

I believe Epic is trying to point out that the reason the press/democratic part isn't trying to make a production out of this is do to the fact they have similar agendas.

He may be looking for you to condemn the double standard.

It makes sence, perhaps not too articulate but we all do it from time to time. He's basically saying, "Smile, lets make up some excuses for democrats who talk shit about Homosexuals in vulgar ways. Now you won't be able to criticize Republicans for their "miss-articulations" if we [conservatives] find ourselves in this situation. Thanks, I no longer have to worry about being PC, fruitcake. [eg. asppearently it's also used to mean crazy]"

So yea. I'm making excuses for democrats. Just as I was obviously lying when I said I didn't know fruitcake was an insult.

Well, with all due respect, for a man who likes to point out at every possible occasion the hardships faced by homosexuals of today and how your personal trials and tribulations brought upon by a not accepting society are so very unique and horrid...

I can't accept that fact that you've never been called a "fruitcake," much less heard of it in the homosexual society.

Whether or not you accept that is not really any of my concern. Just like until today I didn't know Beachcomber or Cocoa Shunter was a descriptive term for a male homosexual. This is really ludicrous. Believe it or not I do not know every word in the english language.
