Products incorporating Tzero's high-speed wireless technology will be hitting store shelves this fall, the company and new partner Monster said. The products, which will include a wireless transmitter and a receiver kit, will allow consumers to connect their flat-screen televisions with DVD players, set-top boxes and other components without using cables.

Tzero's technology is aimed at allowing consumers to transmit high-definition video within their homes without wires. The company claims that its wireless solution is indistinguishable from HDMI, the emerging wire standard for connected high-definition components. Based in Sunnyvale, Tzero has developed its own flavor of Ultra-Wideband, a new wireless standard that is intended to replace USB cables and current Bluetooth connections. The chipmaker's technology is supposed to be compatible with other UWB products, but promises to offer USB's transmission rates at distances far greater than typical UWB antennas.

Monster's kits will be among the first consumer devices that incorporate Tzero's technology. The companies did not disclose what the kits would cost, but a Monster representative said that the price would be comparable to the price of HDMI cables, which typically cost from a little less than $100 to $400.

That's a bit off. Unless they're comparing it to cables that can go from router to TV.

They're comparing it to cables that they sell, which are indeed $100 to $400.
