Heavenly Sword (wow)

Is there new censorship law ? because LoK: Soul Reaver have skewing/impalement.

They just seem to decide not to like something for some reason and then complain until you take it out.

Its out of our hands, both the rating (marketting bods make that choice) and what that allows/doesn't allow.

Couldn't you "#ifdef" a directors cut version while you are at it? It could be released at a different rating a year later or so and give some extra income and it would only require a recompile. ;)

I'm getting depressed right now. Blood and gore would make Heavenly Sword a much better game and a more popular one. A lot of people love games like God of War that realistically includes blood and gore. With the PS3 there should be MORE of such realism and not LESS.

I don't want to buy any next-gen game that even attempts to be anything more than a kiddie game where you have a sharp huge sword that won't even realistically cut someone. That's downright silly, and especially silly for nextgen.

If Sony's behind this they are going to lose money and screw a lot of gamers at the same time.

Not going for a "M" rating would be a very bad decission IMO, since the vast majority of us that will be getting a PS3 during its first year of being released are hardcore games, not the typical casual gamer fanbase that goes in search of "T" games, and by the time the game is suppossed to be released the ps3 will be far from a casual gamer price point. They should really make happy the hardcore gamers and make the game the best it could be.

Anyway, if it doesnt happens, at least i hope to see a someking of directors cut version in the future.

I don't get the call for realism when blood and gore isn't realistic in these games. Can you cut a person's arm off and have it having off by a few slivers of skin as they run away screaming? No. Apart from some red stuff appearing, and usually added in a way that's dramatic and not realistic like Hollywood explosions, blood adds nothing to realism, except perhaps when it's added in a pool on the floor under bodies.

Yeah, right. Millions of people will boycott buying HS because no matter how good a game it is, it doesn't have gratutious blood spatters. And without this title to attract them to PS3, they just won't buy it. PS3's still-born, Sony's going to lose bucket loads of dosh, Ninja Theory will be closed down...sad times indeed.

oh well , i'm still getting HS though :)

I second the notion of a director's cut/special edition somewhere done the line. If the game initially sells well and your time permits such things, such a plan could well be appreciated also by the marketing dept and management.

Oh and someone really needs to push for recognition of that "parental control" thing on the console. If games could consistently respond to that setting by toning down/not running below certain thresholds, the rating system becomes obsolete for the platform that offers that functionality. There's a lot of inertia in legislation but now that the tools are finally there, someone needs to start spinning it in a way that the public and the law mongerers understand.

I can't quite understand the idea that every game that has people fighting needs blood and gore. Not every game needs to have insanely gratuitous GoW/Gears style gore/blood to be fun (part of why I'm not all that excited about Gears -- it seems a bit too concentrated on it for my tastes... not necessarily too bloody, but caters too much to the 15 yr old male -- will have to try it for myself though!). HS has never been (publicly) about violence/gore -- I'm not even sure it would fit all that well judging by everything we've seen... sure it might be more "realistic" (kind of a silly notion), but it doesn't fit the style at all -- it'd drastically change the tone of the game. It seems at this point it's like a Hero (movie) style game (beautiful scenery and fight choreography with a compelling story), not a GoW or Gears style game.

I'm quite happy with their choice (even if it was out of their control -- I like the limitation and non-dependence on blood/gore to add spice to the fighting). I also think some of you guys vastly overestimate how important the average person thinks blood/gore is to a game (especially if they can open it to a wider audience with a teen rating).

In my personal oppinion is not that i really care about blood or anything, but it would look a little bit weird to cut someone into half and not see a single drop of blood.

Of course i still love the game and will get it as soon as possible.

A little blood splat here and there is just the easiest and perhaps most natural feedback to indicate a connecting hit. It doesn't have to be excessively gory, it's just that there's nothing now. Well, meh. I find it much more worrisome that certain moves the team wanted to implement (without any gore even) can't be in the game.

I'm still upset this game will probably not have blood or realistic violence.

Ever play Soul Caliber? Did you like it? If you did, then I don't think this should be a huge problem. I would also prefer blood but it surely doesn't make or break a game for me. They should have put the demo in the kiosks. I think it would have turned heads.

Well you must admit some games like Vandal Hearts are better remembered for hilariously overdone gouts of blood. ;)
