Heavenly Sword: Part Deux

With design they don't mean anything graphics related. It's more the structure of the game I think.

Should be in the shops here on Wednesday! Cool.

I think graphics and art direction are a part of it. And if this is the case, and those amazing graphics and art werent enough to raise the design, really I wonder how bad the structure is

It cant be that bad.

Also I am amazed that some sites are giving it a 7. DMC2 which was one of the worst games ever to play on my PS2 with tremendous unforgiving flaws everywhere also got a 7 from many sites. I doubt Heavenly Sword is for PS3 what DMC2 was for the PS2. That game was a disaster to play even in hard or Dante Must Die mode

GameTrailers Review: 7.9

Design gets a 6.5?!?! I dont know what those guys are smoking because this game is a next-gen visual tour de force :???:

Yes it is, which is why they scored it extremely high in graphics, and noted in their review it's at the absolutel top of the PS3 food chain as far as GFX go.

Design means game design.

And their fundamental problems was that the game was too repetetive, it was essentially arena after arena with multiple waves of enemies, linear to a fault, and too short.

With that said HS sounds like it hides those deficiencies very well by doing everything with great style, and visuals, accompanied by top-notch art design and animations.

Looking forward to playing this one day...somehow ;)

Should be out here Wednesday, and with luck, I might find it Tuesday evening. Unless I talk sense into myself and buy it online for the price it ought to be (52 euros instead of 65 euros - it's a Sony game, but all stores mark it up to 65 anyway, except a few rare ones like play.com). I'll get this, because I like the visuals and it's something my wife likes to look at also. ;) And I'd like to figure out for myself how 'deep' the fighting in this game is.

The Good

* Superb presentation and excellent acting make the game feel like a movie
* Having three different attack stances works well and keeps the combat fresh
* Motion controls are implemented nicely and are a nice break from fighting
* From the moment it starts until the moment the credits roll, the game never lets up.

The Bad

* So short it can be finished in an afternoon
* Not enough variety to the bad guys' design and attacks
* Some bosses feel a little cheap.

From the review:

Add it all up and Heavenly Sword is a fantastic game from start to finish. It's just a shame that it's not longer. The developer made the wise decision to keep the action tight by not including any fetch quests or backtracking, but skilled players will probably finish the game in a little more than six hours, and it probably won't take longer than eight hours for anyone else. There are some DVD-style extras to unlock and you can play it again on "hell mode" once you've beaten it; just don't expect to get much more than a great weekend for your $60. If you're OK with that, you won't be disappointed in Heavenly Sword.

Or John Debney did Lair?
John Debney is a big name when it comes to musical scores, but not a musicians in the same way Amon Tobin and Nitin Sawhney are. If Howard Shore did a movie soundtrack it won't make news persay, but Trent Reznor doing one would. Not knocking Debney or anything it's just not what I was getting at.

Sounds great!
Apart from the "short game" part, everything sounds fantastic!
Out of curiosity, can someone post the review score?
I'm at work and cannot access GS...

What about David Bowie doing the soundtrack to a game?

Just like in Omicron - The Nomad Soul! Beautifull game, that had multiple concert preformances by Bowie. You could also buy cd's with his music and play it in your appartment.

The game was awesome.

 that was before Amon Tobin did Chaos Theory and I said since. I wasn't saying that it was the first time it had happened either, we can all recall how Trent Reznor did Quake 1 of course (figured I should preempt that). In any case, this is off topic! For that reason I won't be responding to other "challenges" to my above statement
