Halo: Reach

I was a bit negative before , but after the vidoc i must say that i'm impressed !! Kudos to Bungie , keep up the good work .

Why is it people feel the need to prove that this game is not impressive when it clearly is?
Alstrong, I think that you should lock this thread once more. At least then, those that think its impressive will be happy with it and those that feel the need to degrade it can look for another forum to do so.

I believe I've seen graphics of this level for two years now

Halo Reach is a sanbox battle, not a narrow path linear game. we are talking about having more AI and vehicles at once on a large open battlefield. Based on that outline, the graphics look amazing... could it be even better IQ if put on a narrow path and linear with a smaller number of designer controlled enemies? of course, but this is doing something different than that and doing it well

Watching the simulated mass fight was very impressive even if it was with untextured assets. Skybox looks very cool. Environments look absolutely huge in some of the brief shots. Only recent game I can think of with the same sense of scale is Crysis on PC. Every other game on console seems absolutely tiny in comparison (although I never played GTA IV). This is within the constraints of any given "level" or "section" within the game. And even then, even Crysis didn't feature as many enemies on the screen at any given time...

Well ya Crysis was upto 20 AI + some vehicles or Warhead upto 40 AI + vehicles for singleplayer. But that aside (yes forgiveness) it's a really impressive uppgrade over ODST. Reach is showcasing great improvements both visually with the pleasant more "war gritty" colors and tech/more of the tech. Sure looks like a showcaser for 360, scope + tech. I would assume large battles should look spectacular with 1000's of particles and lots of soldiers with a light fest if night time (well daytime to huh!).

Wish MAG had these type of graphics, that's for sure!

Wow! Looks absolutely amazing. I can't remember the last time I was excited for a Halo game but this is now on my must get list.

Looks great! Even at an early(ish) date, the more complete portions of the vid ran very well indeed. Naturally the environments had little action but still a good sign non the less.

It really is amazing how far Bungie managed to push the technology without dropping a single feature from Halo 3 - coop and theater are still in.

Just saw the vidoc now. Looks great, best thing that stood out to me was how smooth it is with the motion blur. Static shots like the ones in deepbrowns post dont look all that impressive but look much better in motion.

In terms of saying people have to be blown away or they are insecure fanboys its just not on. Just look at the best graphics threads on here everyone has different tastes and opinions.

As for the scale its a bit dissapointing that they didnt show a huge battle, we still dont know what sacrifices have to be made in the scenes with larger scale.

Yeah that's what I want to see- how many people would they actually want on-screen...that shows how much sacrificies they'd have to make (lots for MAG for example)

Man, that looked phenomenal. I don't understand the comments about how we've seen this level of graphical fidelity for the past 2 years, unless you're including Crysis in there.

I'm surprised they included recoil affecting accuracy in the game, I wonder if it'll carry over to the multiplayer?

I'm for once exited by a Halo game. It's pretty impressive actually :)

What's even more impressive is the fact that the footage we've seen is from a pre-alpha build yet the game already has awesome looking graphics..Not only that, but the new particle collision system was also highly impressive along with the gunsounds, new look of the shotgun, etc...It's great to see Bungie fix all of the complaints that people had with Halo 3's overall visual fidelity but also introduce plenty of new gameplay elements as well.Knowing all of you guys are hyped for Reach has me even more hyped for it now..Can't wait for May 3rd so I can do some assasination kills on Laa-yosh, Joshua L, Scently and so many more B3D members.... :D:devilish::devilish:

Looks and animates much better than Halo3. Still, I would not consider using mindblowing or amazing at this point, imo...

Very impressive for a Halo game for sure, giving full props for the scale of the battle and the lighting effects. It's still lacking some in your face wow effects for me though which keeps it from reaching the top tier graphics but I'm sure Bungie isn't showing all the cards yet.
