My Halo Campaign recommended difficulty for those not controller challenged:
1 player = Heroic
2 player = Legendary
2+ players = Legendary with skulls on (depending on group skill)
Sooo...in co op no grass,no motion blur,no fog Dont remember Gears 2 having worse graphics in co op...why in Reach?
Oh oh no i did not mean to bash it or anything i just wondered whats the reason cus i did not play Halo 3 in co op and in Gears 2 i did not notice downgrade,i did not think they need to tone down the graphics a notch for split screen. No bashing on Reach though...Why bring another game into this? Halo 3 and ODST took huge cuts for split screen. I guess you have a choice: design SP to accomodate split screen with no graphical reduction or design it to scale downward with split screen. This isn't to say SP cannot be done where splitscreen looks just as good but that is much harder. e.g. I don't remember Gears of War 2 having as many enemies actively on screen involved in combat, either.
I am always curious about a reviewer/writer: Are you a journalist or are you a "gamer" (not necessarily hardcore) who enjoys writing about the industry. A journalist may be a better writer, but a long-time gamer who understands game design and can appreciate a game from various perspectives has a lot more to offer than a journalist who just happens to have gotten a job writing in the industry. Seeing how *bad* some of these guys are at playing games makes me feel that they often miss understand and under appreciate many games.

What? Where are you getting this from?
In Halo 3 there was still grass and fog etc. the only difference was LOD was a bit more agressive, things like grass would stop rendering at quite a short distance, compared to single player.
But you do raise a valid point, Gears 1 and 2 had absolutely no appreciable downgrade in visuals over single player, how do they do it? Especially as in Gears each screen is 1280x360 res vs the 640 x 360 res you have in H3, ODST and presumable Reach (unlike H1 or 2)

I haven't played Gears 2 split screen, but I know Gears 1 had slowdown during the campaign in split screen co-op.
