Halo: Reach

Not quite, this is what the final armor looks like.

Not as impressive, in my opinion.

The E3 armor is still better than in either either the alpha or retail builds.

And not really fitting for a metal armor, really. The kind of damage to the material and paint should not be even, but more intense on the edges where it gets into contact with other surfaces more often; and of course where bullets or melee attacks are the most likely to hit.

So it's probably not even a revised artistic choice, but the result of a quick "let's add some detail for the trailer we need to release in 2 days and then do it right for the release" kind of fix.

Yes, they said that, but Bungie also said that with H3 we shouldn't be complaining about the resolution as they were using extra framebuffers!

It might be an artistic change, but that doesn't stop it from being a lot less expensive to render. The final H3 armor looked undeniably worse than that shown in the E3 2006 trailer.

And Is there a link to the GAF discussion on supposed cutbacks from the VGA trailer?

Which version looks better is based entirely on opinion. I think the armor in the final build as seen in the video here is more convincing and better looking than what was shown in the announcement trailer but again I understand that's just my opinion. Sorry but I don't really think there is any way to say which is factually better and only Bungie will know which version would be cheaper to render.

As for the link on GAF, it's in the latest Halo thread about Gamescon, that's all I really know. If the forum wasn't blocked at work and I had nothing else better to do then I'm sure I could find you the specific post, however that's not the case.

It looks waaaaay better than Halo 3 , there's no comparison . Bungie delivered .
I hope it is a better game too. Although I am not hyped about it. I used to be as Halo 2 was my first game when I bought the Xbox, and I really liked that game in every sense. Some time after that I bought Halo 1, and it was also a great game. My favourite of the series is Halo 2, perhaps because of the story and cinematics but ultimately because it was my first Halo game.

I was so hyped about Halo 3 and I found it so boring; no variety in enemies, not impressive as Halo 2 technically wise. And when I played Halo 3 I thought at first it would be the best thing of the world, and I found out what that sensation actually was. I couldn't help thinking, "That's IT??? WTH, this is so boring". The last stage of the game is a carbon copy of Halo 1, for instance. To me it was like getting all hyped over a cold. At least colds are mind blowing but Halo 3 wasn't. I liked the music and the art style but I lost some faith on the series that I wasn't hyped about ODST. :???:

Reach however seems interesting, especially the new characters that talk and definitely have a face. Those are things that made games like Metroid more influential than Halo, or at least more famous and known too.

Reach looks like its going to be a great game, and i like the graphics. But what i do not like is the feel of emptiness in levels.Especially where buildings are...very simple design, not a fan of Halo art style to.Where games like KZ2/3 have alot of smoke,wind,particles,snow...which make everything look real and thick.I kinda like it...

From what I've seen of the campaign you won't be disappointed. Lots of lovely atmospheric effects, mist and smoke etc.

For people like me who do not have a modded Xbox in family n friends, is there anywhere I can watch some Reach campaign? PM me if it isn't allowed on forums.
My respect for the visuals of Reach has been falling rapidly lately, and me needs to see how it has turned out. Especially the campaign.

Beware of some campaign videos out there, some are really poor quality encodes similar to VHS fidelity.

So, firefight is like anever ending campaign. You can keep playing the SP maps with AI waves coming in and players in co-op. Kinda like Horde of Gears. AM I Right?

The videos sure look fun to me, and I think that means a loong running game for people like me who are more interested in SP than competitive MP.

BTW, can we play it alone, if we want, or if the situation demands ? :)lol:)

Gratuitous ass scene with Kat confirmed. Or maybe she just walks funny.
