Halo Master Chief Collection [H:MCC] [XO, XBSX|S, PC, XGP]

What they need to make this collection even better is a secondary DLC pack, with H:ODST and H:Reach. I would give almost anything to be able to play real firefight matches. ODST has the best firefight maps and weapons.

They've probably thought of it by now, but the unified launcher interface is probably something they should consider keeping for the series. At least, it seems a natural progression to integrate the other Halo titles seamlessly. It would be a game launcher version of Waypoint I guess.

I suppose they could try to integrate it fully into Waypoint/Halo Channel, but I don't trust their UI designers.

They really should give the remastering team more time...

Roger that. I do miss Firefight. A great way to blow off steam after a long day at work.

Checking out HaloFest. Hopefully, they'll get a first look of Halo 5.
Darn thing keeps buffering.

I'm having better luck with the YouTube live stream. The Xbox live event player seems pretty horrible.

Looked fun I guess. I'm not really big on MP though. Assault Rifle sounds funny.

Some curious and massive aliasing in the distance.
Quite the poly budget on the glove. :p
Dynamic lights!

Watching it now on x360 Youtube app. Some much better than Xbox Live Event app....wtf
Looked good for a Beta....not sure how I feel about all the new abilities....I was already pretty much ass without all the complexities.
Looks like they are wrapping it up...wth.

NVM--Halo Nightfall is up.

Edit: Holy crap!!! What a clusterfuck!

Yeah... I wasn't too clear on how the sprint eventually used up shield energy. Ground pound supposedly needs to be charged in the air. Thruster dodge thing has a cool down.

Equal starts is good.

So even though the file for TMCC said 59.1GB before I started it, it's now telling me I need to download a 15GB update? Are you serious?!

I'm done.

Did you have Auto-Update enabled? I'm not being prompted for any 15GB update. I preordered digital version.

I thought the 15 GB update was for MP.

Yes, it is, but if you pre-ordered the digital edition and had auto-updates enabled, then everything would be loaded for you to start playing once it went live (Midnight EST for me).

I tried playing campaign and multiplayer and was not prompted for any additional updates to download. I merely had to click on "install" which took all of 15 seconds (?) before it switched over to "launch/play". After that I was in the menus and able to select what I wanted to play.

Yeah I had auto-update on and everything. The file even said 59.1GB. Ah well, from what I'm reading, people can't seem to find matches in multiplayer. So for now I'm going through the campaigns of each game.

My God, Halo 3's water. Still the best in the series imo. Halo 4's water looked all wrong.

Reach supports geometric animations and responses of comparable quality (and occasionally I think better), but it's applied much less consistently. And the lighting for Halo 3's water is just plain nuts; the water surface itself receives a full (diffuse and specular) response to dynamic lights, and oftentimes the water even has a sun response separate from the environmental cubemap that gets shadowed correctly by the lightmap.

The drawback with Halo 3's is that its snazzier appearance breaks more obviously when it doesn't work, like occasionally obvious unnatural hard transitions from water surface to shore line, or dynamic tessellation clearly compromising geometric detail at a distance. But a bit of sketchiness doesn't really look out of place in Halo 3.

Something I dislike about water in all the modern Halo games (scratch that, nearly all modern games period) is getting water to look "right" when viewed from a distance. To this day games usually just let water get soft and smeared in some way or another; water in the real world is alive with a variable glittering roughness, produced through waves of varying frequencies playing across different parts of the surface. In many ways I think even Halo 1's approach of throwing a negative LOD bias at the animated textures of skybox water feels more convincing in its context than how newer games tend to handle things, although a decision to use exactly the same approach in a 2014 game would be full of delightful shameless tackiness.
