Well I don't know about the second picture ;)

Seriously though, doesn't really knock me off my feet, so many racing games just look identical.. IMO its not the cars that tell them apart, its the environments (see Rallisports BEAUTIFULNESS).
 
Is this game going to be rendered real time? I mean they totaly look like photographs :p At a quick glance you can't ven tell the diff. between the photos and the screenies... I'm totaly surprised PS2 has this much power.
 
forget the photos of the game's making (those just came along for the ride without me knowing they'd be there) just the screen shots of the game. :D
 
The first screenie looks awesome. The second one in the town looks horrible. The car is fine, but the rest? I seriously hope that's from a test track or something, haven't seen such a boring, flat, low-poly and low-res texture cityscape in any of the more recent racing games. The last image I'm really not sure about though. If it is in-game its truly fantastic, but it might very well be a render or a photograph, hard to tell due to the scan IMO.

That 3rd pic is nice and all but it's in a hanger. I don't think anyone is going to be driving in a hanger ;)

Car model... lighting.

Still... I want to see some actual in-game shots. PR screens with altered camera angles and super high quality AA can be quite deceiving. The crappy scanning doesn't help either.

No doubt the game is gonna look awesome though. Definitely the best looking racer.
 
Looks promising to me!

I think the 3rd pic should be enough assurance that more refinement is possible in the 2nd pic. The 2nd pic is the way it is simply because no one has gotten around to detailing the level, IMO.
 
Someone needs to teach whoever's responsible for scanning video game mags how to use a scanner properly, it's hardly rocket science!
 
Looks great for the PS2, but okay as a whole. Looks like GT3 with tad beefy car models. Though GT3 was no slouch for its time.

Now i be impress if this warehouse shot is in game. I mean if we can get that level of car modelling details in the actual game/race/replays, i be WOWOZAWEEE!!!! :oops:

I hope the final game will look better(lighting from the scans seem flat), with 480p, widescreen, smooth filtered backgrounds, DPL2 and new AI, all at fixOR 60fps. :oops:
 
True, E3 it is! Though i dont see whats all the drooling is about? Game looks fine from the scans, but hardly "oraganismic" imho. :oops:

This looks pretty damn photorealistic in some of the screens, I'm absolutely amazed at what they've accomplished. Actually I outright dismissed the warehouse and the lakeside screens thinking they must be promo photos. Now I'm not so sure anymore, especially considering how amazing GT3 looks at it's night tracks. There really isn't a racer that I've seen, that has fooled me that way. PD are simply *masters* of art direction and balancing subtleness.

Btw, people who complain about some of the lower res textures on the walls and such should take a look at other games (even PGR2) and realize they all have such problems.

I doncha know, but i doncha see the excitement for those GT4 screens :?: Maybe for a non racing gamer, things are harder to see :?: I am not sure what you mean by fooling you marc, but i have seen a few Xbox racers vids and they do look highly realistic to me.

As for the canyon, i think it is more great choice of usage rather than anything else. :p Of course it be nice if those shadows move in accord with the sun rather than just staying static.

Oya! I hope PD will improve on the headlights, GT3 crappy pasted on textures is an eyescore after coming into contact with full volume lights. :oops:
