Go on the record and predict the XB-360 specs

500 MTriangle/s was from last year leaked specs (1 primitive setup per clock cycle).
Anyway..the specs leaked a couple of days ago were taken from to be published magazines articles.

Is that like the PS2's 75 million polys per second, a peak figure with unlit, unshaded, etc.?

Looks like the leaked specs. were correct (maybe they were taken from this magazine when it was set by the printers).

But then, given the lead time for magazines, this info. may be a month or more old.

Last years leak said these were real stats for non trivial shaders. The question we all had was when these stats were released it gave something like 10x the vertex shader power and 4x pixel shader power of the X800--so the question was were these comparisons if the chip was ONLY doing either/or, but not both at the same time. One of the patents indicated that the CPU can assist with vertex load... it will be interesting to see how this really performs, but my guess based on the TeamXbox leak that those are fairly realistic if not too narrow. Game design (poly heavy or texture heavy) will probably play a big role in how it is utilized.

Surely it can't be 500 MPoly/s if your limited by 48 M shader ops/sec. If every polygon only needs one shader op, you'll have 48 MPoly/s. Assuming the shader ops deal with all shading, texturing, lighting, etc. Or is basic stuff, textures, T&L, outside the shader domain?

Hmmm :ahem: ... "No scans" ... that aside, if these are legit and not just rumors (I do not read German), is Xbox 360 the WORSE kept secret every for a console??? Also, they seem to have hit all almost all their targets which is kind of amazing... before the pic goes bye bye...

CPU: 3 x IBM Power PC 3.2GHz
GPU: ATI 500MHz, 10MB embedded DRAM, 500M poly/s, 48M shader operations/s
Memory: 512MB GDDR3
HD: 20GB
DVD: 12 DVD Double Layer
Memory card: 64MB
3 USB ports, 1 in back 2 in front
2 something or others (old Xbox ports???)
WiFi, Ethernet Port, Camera (1280 pixles?)
Straming from Windows XP (HTPC functionality?)
16:9, 720P, 1080i, 5.1 DD, personal sound track => All games (if I am reading right)

Just quoting/interpreting the info before the pic goes bye-bye ;)

So 500 million vertices/sec, I remember someone predicted this...

I think the TeamXbox stuff from last year estimated that. I really REALLY seems, if these are real, that the Xbox 360 has been a bad kept secret. That obviously is a big advantage to Nintendo and Sony. The good news is that it looks like it comes with a HDD.

I could have sworn that with those first leaked specs, one site claimed they came from a source deep within MS...it wouldn't surprise me if MS leaked them to excite gamers.

Er - that's 48 Bilion ops/sec.

For trivial transform of 500Mpoly/s you need less then 10% of that ;)

opps!

Yes, it is:

500 millioner (500M poly/s)
48 milliarder (48B Shader ops/s)

I will change that! Someone else who had translate mentioned that AA was required in all games also.

This is something that I was expecting M$ to rule on, so if it's true that would be really excellent.

Tri-Core IBM PowerPC @ 2Ghz with auto frequency changing.
Like centrino auto clocking.

FSB Hyper-transport @ 1066Mhz
Triple Linked to Processor Crossbar = 25.584GB/sec

Integrated DDR2 Memory Controller 533Mhz Dua channell.
Memory Bus-width 72bit / 64bits are data.

PPU built into the north bridge? Why not!

10MB of eDRAM on GPU.
1-2MB of DRAM on the CPU.

256MB total system RAM.

Actual stats here.

Basically the 3 core, 3.2GHz, 1MB cache CPUs. 500MHz GPU, 10MB eDRAm. 512MB RAM GDDR3 (700MHz DDR, thus 1400MHz effective?). 20GB HDD, wireless contrllers, 12x DVD, etc...

I might not be wrong we still have about 5 months till launch :) Ms may be under cutting the specs to avoid having to reduce them like the did with the xbox . Making it faster is better than cutting it down in power

You can't throw in an extra 6 meg of eDRAM at the last minute.

That's what, 50 million extra transistors?

no but there are at least another 2 or 3 months before they need to start building up supplys for launch. Your right another 6 megs is very unlikely . But the clock speeds of many things can still change
