True. But if they come up with an idea for a lucrative gameplay mechanic, it's probably best that they don't ask Epic for any technical help implementing it...
The moment any gameplay is released, people will copy it (if its successful).
I can't see it making any difference unless everyone can land in the same place. It's population density that affects game intensity and pacing. Game size affects duration - bigger maps means more traversal and longer matches.1000 players is gonna be painful. Super large landscapes... painful.
It's another take on games I guess. Each experience will be different from the last. This is sort of why I enjoy playing Battle Royale, as much as I also enjoy arena. The issue with arena, is that it's symmetrical, ti's just respawn and kill and die. That's fun or a while, but as you get better at it, and the teams do, there begins a funneling, the strategies for the map are clear, it can get locked. Some people love the sweats like that, but most people don't.I can't see it making any difference unless everyone can land in the same place. And with every inch of my heart I believe them it will . Maybe we'll see the foliage quality from Book of the Dead or even better but in a massive open world game with no load time."RespawnFirst founder and lead editor Sikandar Mahmood discovered a job listing on the official Guerilla Games website that gives us a few minor but interesting details about the sequel to Sony’s 2017 hit PS4 exclusive game. Horizon Zero Dawn 2 will feature “stunning environments,” “lush and stunning vegetation,” and “industry-benchmark graphics.” What’s interesting is that they are not calling it Horizon Zero Dawn 2, at least not in the job listing. In the listing, the game is only referred to as “Horizon.” Last but not the least, Horizon is created on an improved version of the Decima Engine."

If PS4 Pro could run this in 4k then PS5 should cut through this like butter.
As expected 10000%. Here we are trying to find differences between current gen and next gen graphics, as they’re not always immediately obvious from a few trailers, and people are still arguing that the difference between X and 5 will be ‘massive’. Sigh.
I think it’s the total package of it, just the ssd alone wouldn’t be enough, you need a powerfull gpu, cpu and fast ram to leverage what resides on the ssd also (to bottleneck it less).
That's granted, and they both have it all. The point is what will make people really feel that is a big enough step up to convince them buying in to the new generation. I also think the SSD is the biggest "game changer" here. For me 3D audio is important, but I think that will be for a niche market. Good surround on stereo headphones might help to lift that market some. Most will keep using TV speakers and sound bars.
