"Dude" go back and read the kazzilion posts on this. I am not getting hung up on anything.
I told you I've taken pains to ignore that kind of shiat. ;) It's just IMHO thinking a game will look 90-95% like a game's first look means basically you think the game is going to look like that. You can't have no half-res textures, poor AA or eyesore pre-baked lighting in something that close. ;)

Of course part of this is that I know that even if Killzone 2 can come out looking very much like that, it won't be exactly like said video, and one set of people are going to latch onto the things they do as well or better and go SEEOMGZ!!!! and another set will eye every other detail that differs negatively (if only in their personal preference) and go "HA!"

In part, I'm just rolling my eyes at the next few years of expected BS. :p Statements like that right at the offset just make me shudder.

I don't think this will be possible...see soldiers sleeve.

We had to put up with a month of, "Sony PR said that is how it will look, so you do not know what you are talking about" and now you are backing off it?
Not a whole month...

part of that month was arguing that it was realtime.

Well its apprent there really is no point in arguing any further. Its either you believe it or you dont. I'm not going to use past examples because everyone learns off of their past, and this can either be a PR move or the real stuff. I feel this is the real stuff by simply looking at it. Its not mind blowing, its nothing out of the realms of what i'd consider possible. Im going not only on shear word of mouth from the many individuals entrenched in the industry doing their interviews, but also with a personal view on the game itself. The Unreal 3.0 blew us all away last year, it appeard to be unbelievable. However, the new consoles are expected to eat this engine up like no ones business, so im not doubting that whatever engine that demo was using was real. Its not eons beyond UE3.0, infact i'm not doubting that both engines share some of the same elements just at a different scale. However, it appears the real difference in either is the art direction in general.

^^^ Theres my opinion. And really, everything thats been stated by either side is also based off of opinion, and the only real hard facts we have, are from devs kicking this out to be real.

And insider info's saying it's not real (pre rendered)

Every point has been argued already. Please, kill this thread! We've had enough of that game to last a lifetime as it pervaded almost every thread on the board. Let the memory of KZ retire until it's actually released!

y? These're simple PS effects. Actually it looks like an extension of Rare's fur effects in their games...

You're entitled to you opinion, I disagree on that point though.

When UE3 was announed it looked great, amazing even, but not unbelievable at all. Epic has basically looked at all the technology that accumulated in 3D hardware over the past 6 years, and wrapped it into one nice package, with a great toolset to actually comfortably use it. Almost all of the features have been used in games before, just not all to the same level and at once. They've been aiming the engine, based on already available technology, at a very high performance target too, like 2006 hardware in a 2004 demonstration, which made it all the more impressive. That, coupled with high quality artwork (from GoW as it turned out), is the reason for the stunning look of the UE3 engine. Yet I could look at the press material and go "yeah, that looks realtime", something I honestly can't do for KZ. But that's been discussed to death and is indeed pointless by now...

Exactly, U3 never made me go "Yeah....riiight....", it looked jaw dropping and had me salivating for more but KZ2 had me "Cool CG, must be the opening CG for the game.....wait a minute that was suposed to be the game? Lol who are they trying to fool?".

The only thing that I can promise is that when KZ is released there's going to be million of people shocked. It's either going to be people like me who expected it to look like the video and it under delivers or it's going to be the non-believers that go "wow I didn't think it was possible." Either way people will be shocked.

I honestly think that if MS would have shown GOW as a video in complete form instead of showing a playable version this KZ talk would be mute. People would be comparing the KZ video to the GOW video and arguing which looked better, instead of it being real or not. To me the obvious difference was Sony showed videos that were not playable while MS showed their games in playable format. Look at how peoples undies are getting wet looking at the new GOW video. And thats with a horrible framerate. Its obvious GOW is not complete, the video shown behind closed doors doesn't even have walls the break down when bullets hit them. The fire looked unfinished. I expect alot of stuff to be cleaned up in the final game. What we seen from KZ was what the finished game would look like.

Okay this is it , I'm enforcing what I said a long time ago. No talking about killzone if it was realtime or cgi . Lets just drop it and wait till we have more info about it before we argue more . Tgs is around the corner we will either see in game video of someone playing it or more of what we've already seen and it should clear up the picture for us
