You expected replies in 20 minutes? It probably takes longer than that for some of us to even read the article.

Not really..but I fear that some of you are omnipotent. This isnt the easiest forum to post "fresh" news in....

The word you were probably looking for was "omniscient:"

1 : having infinite awareness, understanding, and insight
2 : possessed of universal or complete knowledge

The review was all right, not really indepth. They also didn't do much of an investigation in terms of future PS/VS performance so I though there future proof comments were a little baseless.

Then again, I don't think video card reviews are Ace's hardware's strength.

It's good to see the reviewer crediting B3D as the first to uncover the architectural anomolies of the NV30....followed by the Inq's report several days later....it was also cool to see Colourless's name in there.

Heck!...when I first typed the word Omnipotent, I actually typed "impotent".....imagine if I didnt catch that mistake....

I think Colourless' nick makes him supremely suited for the job in nV's marketing department that requires you to protest that the FX is really eight pixel pipes wide. ;)

i loved reading through the thread there.
95% of the comments strike me as written by the clueless.

And in the review -
I would have liked to have seen some Pixel Shader benchies, and some vertex shader benchies.

I also though it was funny that the GFFX is the clear winner for NWN because it wins without AA/AF on, and loses with them on!
After all, 50+ FPS is not enough for NWN!!!!
lol

Yeah, it is rather strange. . . From what I can tell, it appears that NWN uses shadow volumes, so I guess it's possible that Bioware didn't use ATI's ATI_separate_stencil extension, but used NVidia's EXT_stencil_two_side. Either that or ATI's drivers present an incredibly huge CPU bottleneck with that game. . .

NWN I think uses regular stencil shadows approach(not z-fail and not capped since camera is above and not in the shadow volume so you can get away with using reg. shadows). Lower the screen res. and if the game speeds up then it's fillrate bound otherwise cpu bound.
