I'd like to be a pest and add that I frequently post from a Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet (IE11 Metro) and the new forum software/theme causes the post body textarea to be extremely slow when typing. It looks like a 1 second per letter delay. Maybe it's an IE11 Metro problem.

Edit - I figured it out. It's caused by my 125% scaling setting in IE. Something CPU or GPU intensive must happen as I type on this forum when scaling isn't at 100%...

Is there a way to un-watch a thread? I can't seem to figure out how to.

Top of the thread on the right, "Unwatch Thread".

WTF are you on about? Pick you preferred style at the bottom just above About Us next to the Ad Styler button. You might be on Beyond 3D Dark.

There is no true 'old style' because the forum software is different with a different layout. There's only a variety of colour options. It's The Future and should be embraced.

Two things that irk/confound me somewhat:

"New" indicator for new posts in a topic you're currently viewing only display for the last page, if new posts extend to more than one page you only get the indicator on the last page.

Youtube embeds slow down page load times enormously, at least with IE11. Try the Youtube favorites topic in general forum and watch your grey hairs proliferate while the page renders and your browser tab is completely frozen and unresponsive... :p

For me the whole Alerts and New posts thing is quite broken. Often I see new posts in threads I'm watching, but never got an alert for. And the links to new posts sometimes are just all over the place, taking me wherever the wind might want to take me in the thread.

Yes there is. Did you try? With your eyes open?
Click in the Search box when you have the thread in question browsed and the followup popup shows up with all the options available:

It's actually quite smart and works very well. Make sure you marked all forums read and start again from scratch since the transition.

I did and I wouldn't say it works 'very well' when I'm not getting alerts for new posts, to then find them when I click on New Posts. Or maybe I'm missing something.

The Alerts system isn't there to notify you of every single new post in every single thread since you visited last.

I turned off alerts to new posts in threads I've posted to right quick. Just too damn spammy, heh. Made the important alerts drown in a sea of noise.

Surely it should give an alert on the ones I'm watching, though?

No. There are limits. There is a limit as to how many alerts a person will receive on any single post (from ratings). There is a limit as to how many alerts any single thread will generate for a person. There is a limit as to how many alerts any single person will receive. Most of these limits are based on time periods or ranges. This is to prevent annoyances.

It's been years since I had to look at this, but if you want to truly watch a thread, then mark the thread as watched and then look at your watched threads section. Do not rely on alerts.

Yep. I've disabled alerts on threads and it was constantly alerting me. Use the Watched Threads list and jump right to the start on new content when the thread title link is clicked.
