Eye of the Serpent...Sony shows the future of stereoscopic displays for the PS4.

Old CRTs did have a habit of accumulating a lot of static charge and bombarding your eyes with dust, but that just helped you realise when it was time to stop playing :)

Uggh, I feel just awful right now. I thought CRT technology helped me immensely to accelerate what you define as natural progressing of nearsightedness. I've been convinced of it for the last few years because I noticed it is a LOT easier to me to focus on the image (without getting tired) when I'm using LCDs.
The strobing can cause eye strain. Short-sightedness is just an issue of eyes getting used to focussing close and not working hard enough to focus at a distance.

When I had CRT displays, which were also bulky and heavy as hell, I also remember being able to distinguish the little "cells" forming the pixels, which I can only define as honeycomb like shaped.
That was the old tech before Trinitron, which all the later CRTs used. CRTs image quality was superb and it's only recent TV tech that, IMO, has made it possible to replace CRTs and still cope with SDTV not looking terrible.
