Exclusives, Time Exclusive, Multi-platform, etc...

The list is really weird.
I was talking about past gen (PS1/XB1) that became multiplatform this gen (PS3/360) not this gen that will be multiplatform in the PS4/XB1 era

MGS became an exclusive once more later as 3 was never released on a competitive platform during the PS2 era.
DMC was
Regarding SH I said partially
Regarding Resident Evil I said partially. There were exclusive Resident Evil games on the PS2 as well. None was ported tothe original XBOX
Regarding Final Fantasy I was referring to the normal sequels not the spin offs
Ace Combat was a clear exclusive on the PS2 platform. Again I was talking about previous gen vs this gen
Armored Core. Same as above
Kingdom Hearts. Clearly referring to consoles not handhelds
Typo I meant Xbox not 360 :p
I didnt remember that SSX was also on the original XB
Star Ocean was a PS2 exclusive. Got multiplatform this gen
Tekken was PS2 exclusive
Front Mission was PS2 exclusive
ZOE was PS2 exclusive
Ninja Gaiden became an XBOX exclusive and it was associated with XBOX. Became multiplatform this gen. Itagaki's departure really contributed to this.

MS and Sony have realized that there's no point in throwing too much money at 3rd party exclusivity. All that does is start a bidding war that makes 3rd party publishers rich at their expense. Occasionally there is a gap in their lineup and they act accordingly, but otherwise everything is going to get ported at some point.

Yes, but the game is published by Microsoft Studios, and I guess that Microsoft Studios is producing the game.

Who is disputing that? Ryse is a Crytek IP, while MS will publish it. Publishers tend to have exclusive rights on keeping things in house, or first right of refusal... but that doesn't negate the fact Crytek owns Ryse. Depending on the contract, MS may only have rights towards publishing Ryse and possibly Ryse 2... anything following that, could be up for discussion (i.e. multi-platform or MS publishing the following sagas again).

Anyhow, I believe MS should keep Ryse and all it's following chapters/sagas... just give me something from Crytek (Crytek Engine 4th Generation) that uses/shows the PS4 wares.

That's why I said "producing". If Microsoft is producing the game, even if they don't own the IP, the game will be on Xbox One. Gears of War is an Epic's IP, but the 4 games are Xbox 360 exclusives, and I guess the games was produced (and published) by Microsoft Studios.

Well its not the first time a MS published game became multiplatform if Ryse eventually becomes one

Ryse has always been called exclusive even when it was an xbox 360 kinect game.
I think crytek has alot to gain by partnering with ms. I would not doubt the fact ryse could go to pc as a games for Windows title but i would think that at least the first ryse will stay a Microsoft console exclusive. Its probably in the contract that they wont make a PlayStation version especially if Microsoft is footing the bill for its development.

You're right, but, like Gears of War franchise, the game is 100% Xbox One exclusive. If you want Ryse on PS4 you will need to wait, and I guess you will wait a long time.

EDIT: Reading this article makes me think Microsoft is more than only "publishing".

Not sure if this belongs here but saw that for $70 you get both X1 and 360 versions of COD:

Maybe this practice gets more popular?

In theory, (though not taking into account security measures) a BD disc could contain both PS3 and PS4 versions at the same time.
Even if it's not possible because of disc handshake or whatever, the BD could be a PS3 version with PS4 engine/assets on the disc, with a code to tie the PS4 version to your account, download a 50MB startup file and install the disc.

There would be almost no penalty for developers, because my guess is that only a small percentage of the people would buy a game for both platforms.

How many titles were cross generational last gen? It's probably a lot easier to port from PS3 to PS4/XB360 to XB1 given middleware like Unreal, but there's still a lot of work for not many consoles at launch. I don't know if the economics make sense or not.

For Sony's digital upgrade program it sounds like they give you a code to buy the PSN version on PS4 at a discounted rate, but you still use the PS3 as a disc check so people don't just start selling their spare codes or PS3 copies.

That would be a pretty failsafe method
