Exclusives, Time Exclusive, Multi-platform, etc...

This thread is about future PS4/XB1 titles, and where they may appear. You can use wishful thinking or use rumors/whispers quotes on conveying "your opinion". So there is no need to get upset at someone's opinion or rumor. ;)

My current choices...

1) Grand Theft Auto V - A 6 month time exclusive (next generation system wise) for PS4. Why? Sony has leaked comments/blurbs about it, and a recent hack has shown "Orbis" in some of the game files.

2) Next Generation of Gears of War: Multi-platform title. Why? Money! If MS exclusive rights to publish GoW is no longer in place, I believe from a business standpoint it would make more sense on publishing on both platforms. Plus a comment/tweet from a supposed Epic Dev was deleted in mid February on wanting to see the title on both next generation systems.

3) Resident Evil Reboot: Muti-platform title.

4) Next Generation of Dead or Alive: XB1 1yr time exclusive.

I am pretty sure that just like this generation most triple A titles will appear on both machines regardless of what you hear at E3 ("available only ABC and launching this fall..."). DLC, characters and outfits is likely to be where exclusivity in the true sense of the word has any meaning beyond first party developers.

To be more specific Titanfall IMO will be on PS4, not so sure if it will come to PS3 due to the timing.

MGS
DMC
Soul Calibur (partially PS2 exclusive due to 3)
Silent Hill (partially PS2 exclusive due to 3)
Final Fantasy
Resident Evil (partially PS2 exclusive if we exclude the GC and the DC games)
Ace Combat
Armored Core
Kingdom Hearts
SSX
Star Ocean
Tekken
F1 series (originally the license was owned by a Sony studio)
Front Mission
ZOE
Ninja Gaiden
Dead or Alive

These are 6th generation franchises that went multiplat during the 7th generation

Here's just a short list. There's a lot more that I couldn't think off.

Xbox 360 3rd party exclusive games that got ported
Bioshock (1 year delay)
Ninja Gaiden 2 (1.25 year delay)
Mass Effect (5 years after the original)
Mass Effect 2 (1 year delay, came out before Mass Effect 1 on PS3)
Star Ocean: The Last Hope (1 year delay)

Xbox 360 3rd party exclusive games that did not get ported
Dead Rising
Dead or Alive 4
Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball (very popular in Japan so this is a surprise)
Blue Dragon (published by MS)
Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures
Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom (published by MS)
Ninety-Nine Nights (published by MS)
Ninety-Nine Nights 2 (this time published by Konami)
The Last Remnant (PS3 version was cancelled)
Lost Odyssey
Magna Carta 2
Phantasy Star II
The Witcher 2

The 3rd party developed games that were published by Microsoft are technically 2nd party games, but I didn't want to make yet another list. And I left out Gears of War as that's pretty obvious and if MS doesn't own the IP they at least have first right of refusal.

But then again there's been quite a few 3rd party exclusives for the PS3 as well that didn't get ported, like Demon's Souls.

Basically it's more the exception than the rule that 3rd party exclusives get ported. In fact, as the list above shows, it's very rare.

What is less rare is for a sequel to get a multiplatform release. Like Dead Rising 2, Dead or Alive 5, Dark Souls and the upcoming The Witcher 3.

So, while there's a good chance Titanfall may become multiplatform due to some VERY vague words from the Titanfall developers, it isn't guaranteed by any means. Likely a 1 year delay if it does. Titanfall 2 on the other hand will probably launch as multiplatform.

[edit] Moved Star Ocean to ported games

I would like to see Haze get a second life/chance at becoming a good title. I enjoyed it... painfully though.

I quite enjoyed haze too. Some parts of it were inspired, the jungle section for instance was particular eye catching for the time, other parts were just meh.

But I'd buy it if it got a refresh.

These are 6th generation franchises that went multiplat during the 7th generation

The list is really weird.

About titanfall it could be like call of duty 2 on the 360.
Xbox one gets titanfall but it goes multiplat for the sequels.

Im not sure that gears will go multiplat even though judgement wasnt a huge success all the other gears games were huge for the 360. If its just a money issue microsoft will pay to keep it exclusive they really benefited from staggering halo and gears releases. The only way i see this changing is if Microsoft 1st party team comes up with another ip thats just as successful.

The only AAA games I see being exclusive or time-exclusive to PS4 are Japanese games where the brand recognition isn't too huge in the US (your Yakuzas and Guilty Gears).

Outside of that, both consoles will definitely push exclusive DLC or on-disc content. We're already seeing both Sony and MS helping out development of next-gen games, all in exchange for timed exclusivity for their particular platform.

All-in-all it'll be the same as this generation.

Sony have and PS3 advertising deal for GTAV in the UK, but the game is too big now to be exclusive to any platform.
Nope, the advertising deal applies to North America as well. But yeah, it's not enough outweigh the 360's existing install base as their go-to console for multiplatform titles.
