E3 - Predict the game of the show

Just how many E3 awards did Oni win? And the game wasn't even that good! (not to mention it sold like nothing)

In other words, E3 awards don't mean jack...

And why isn't Halo 2 eligible?
Perhaps, the award is only given to games that are playable? If that's true, then Half-Life might be out of the running, too. We still don't know if it'll be playable or just video. My guess is video, but its just a guess.

PC gaming and console gaming should not be mixed, too different tastes.

Depending on the crowd, Metroid Prime or Doom3 was last year GOTS.

thats not really so anymore..

years ago Halo was PC's big game, next thing you know its Xbox's, years ago Ghost Recon was PC's big hit, next thing you know its all the rave on the Xbox, Counterstrike lured everyone into buy Halflife on PC, now they will be showing it for Xbox....

I wish they left such games on PC and seperated it from consoles, but I'm not in charge.

Heh. Final Fantasy XII could be one of the bigger titles of the show if it goes into new territory where the franchise hasn't been before. It would make for a good showing if it had awesome graphics in a fantasy type settings for PS2, and on top of that some really new ideas into the gameplay. That's about as likely to happen as Square Enix unveiling a sequel to FF7.

As for the SEGA side. There are a few games that might get the attention of gamers, at least SEGA fans. I'm not sure if VF Quest is going to be unveiled at E3, or the new Sonic games. There "should" be a new racing game unveiled that might not be entirely new to some of us. Maybe a new RPG that's not a port from a current game already releasedm, or at least an RPG should be announced. FV3 anyone? Though that might be reserved for a Japanese arcade game trade show.

Sega Rally 3 for PS2 and Skies of Arcadia for GC?

When the heell are we going to get Shinning Force 4 and Phantasy Star 5? Oh and howabout a new Streets of Rage too?

Vectorman? Altered Beast? PfffT!!!!! Bad decisions....no wonder Sega is struggling like a sought after biatch. :p

It needs to be playable. Not on the showfloor mind you but at the very least behind closed doors (which I personally think is stupid).

However, at this point all we have heard of are video presentations.

just FYI to the people talking about Metroid Prime Sequels earlier, it has been confirmed it will be shown at E3 in video format.. but like the last video, that doesnt show enough to pull game of show..but who knows.

reading the OXM Halo 2 previews (well the 10 pages thats all over the net by now), seems that Halo 2 will be demoed at E3, same way Doom 3 was demoed last year

non interactive, running on real hw

Unless the game turns out to be a dog which could very well happen.

Why?

Cause stuff happens . U never know . Although i think it will be a great game it may take a wrong turn.

For me the GFX don't need to be better, maybe with a bit less flickering. Only thing I'm extremly interested are more tracks and the online feature. Of course I expect more like destruction derby like car dammage (Ok, maybe not that much), better physics, much better AI, more cars, more everything ... and I trust PD a lot, so I think we will see a lot of them features implemenred well.

ignoring for a moment the objectivity of Mr Jvd ( )

if they just include Progressive Scan option keeping pretty much the same graphics i'll be happy... but of course the graphics will be MUCH more evolved than that,..

is it true that Devil May Cry 2 (PAL version) features PRO-scan?

Just came in:

No E3 debut for PS3 Krudster [30-Apr-2003]

The pre E3 rumour mill cranked up to eleven this morning, with our US sources insisting that Sony is hosting a behind closed doors event at the show to give the massed their very first glimpse of PS3. But not so, says Sony.

Speaking to Eurogamer this morning, Sony’s Jonathan Fargher said: "PlayStation 3 will categorically not be shown off at E3. I can honestly say to the best of my knowledge that this rumour is false.

"The PS2 remains the main focus. From a commercial and business sense it just wouldn’t make any sense to [show off PS3]. We’ve just broken the 50 million barrier, we’re outselling the competition by about four to one…there’s a lot of life in the old dog yet," Fargher offered.

Referring to GT4, Fargher inferred that the PS2 would be pushed to new levels, with its renowned performance analyser achieving unprecedented results. "You’ll be impressed when you see [GT4]," he said.

"We’ve got loads of new games to show off, and haven’t even launched online gaming in Europe yet," he added.

But despite the flat denials, the feeling persists that Sony will be keen to launch PS3 ahead of its rivals and build up the kind of unassailable lead that it has managed with such all-conquering ease with the current generation - and E3 would be a good platform to introduce developers to the technology.

Sony has a pre-E3 event scheduled for May 13th, and Eurogamer will be there to see what the company has up its sleeve. Confirmed games so far include Jak 2, GT4, Ghosthunter (behind closed doors), Destruction Derby Arenas, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, Syphon Filter Omega Strain, Rise To Honor, Hardware Online Arena, Twisted Metal Black Online, Deka Voice, My Street, This Is Football 2004, World Rally Championship Online, Kin, Final Fantasy X-2, and Eye Toy.

Maybe GT4 will really be what I have dreamed of. :D

yeah.. well they said that gt3 was 25% of what ps2 can do... which doesn't really tell much per se... but at least u can infere that the new game will look and hopefully play much much better....

GotS will be either Halo2 or Half-Life2. Probably the latter (as awesome as Halo was and Halo2 is looking, its going to be tough to compete with a 5-year-in-the-making-sequel-to-an-8-million-selling-title widely hailed as the pinnacle of its genre). Doom3 has an outside shot.
