Sounds a bit like genetic algorithms.
They have similar applications than NNs. Eventually the success of NNs removes too much attention from alternatives at the moment. (But i know nothing about AI)
There also were rumors Ryzen uses NNs to 'learn' better branch prediction? So the 'optimizer' proposal at least was meant seriously. We care for functional software, and AI makes it efficient. Could happen? (All is better than forcing me to do it, hihi
