Dual Shock 3 'Confirmed' For TGS *

Wasn't it also "confirmed" for E3? Not that I doubt it - it makes sense in a "it's about bloody time Sony" kind of way - but we've had the exact same thread before.

Good find, Crossbar. Makes me even more curious about the new controller. I was expecting only PS2 type of rumble despite all the buzz about TouchSense.

EDIT: Hmm... the release talks about Katana and Hori peripherals. I wonder if Sony will have its own. The rumor only spoke about rumble SDK instead of Sony branded rumble controller.

IIRC there was a video in June, right before E3, from the developers of Haze (Free Radicals?) with a blurred rumbling controller. We´ve had flawed rumors before, this may just be another one.

It'd be nice if they continue to produce the rumble-less Sixaxis. I like the light weight and I greatly appreciate not having to turn off the rumble in every game I play.

Of course that would introduce some sort of price difference... and confusion...

So I'd probably better get a few when they mark them down to clear them out.

I don't think so. But there were definitely rumours about it being unveiled at GC in Leipzig.

you can't miss what you don't have. ;) :p

Aint that the truth i didn´t really miss it but will buy a rumble when i can, then i know what i missed :)

But the issue with Rumble was that several "people" said that they wouldn´t buy a PS3 only on the basis of no rumble. This was their sole reason for not liking and buying a games console a true dealbreaker. I guess it was more lies and phanboyism that made them post it but maybe a few was actually telling the truth :)

I do (did) have it in my 360 though. Oddly I have it enabled on the 360 and it, umm, just feels natural but not particularly noticeable. Does that make sense? Probably not.

I think I'm just one of those who doesn't give too much of a hoot for rumble. Especially for racers where it's going constantly - it'll sometimes leave my fingers/hands tingling. That may be my age though...

Not the official announcement, but IGN were playing Burnout PS3 with rumbling Sixaxis controllers at EA's pre-TGS event:

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/821/821010p1.html

In fact, the controller we were using to play the demo looked exactly like a standard Sixaxis, except that it had a sticker on the bottom that said "RUMBLE." It also felt notably heavier than the standard Sixaxis.

We presume this is a prototype of the PlayStation 3's new rumble controller, whatever it's going to be called

Little indication yet of what technology is being used. Expect details tomorrow I guess.

nice. i admit i never did care for rumble much, but it will be nice to have it back (meaning i've been used to it from the PS2 days).

The more important question is: at what "price" ?

I agree it's not much ballyhoo if they simply add rumble, new Immersion tech or not.

Now if they can say something about what Cellius is doing, that might be something. :)

Probably this is the reason why the 80GB version only got the $599 bundle pack so far, the non-bundle 80GB and a new cheaper SKU will get a new controller.

Rumour has it that some MGS4 demo pods at TGS will be rumble-enabled.

Seems like Kojima finally found some use for his rumble guy.

@one, I really hope they will put the new controller in the new SKUs, do you have any indications about that?
Could this possibly mean we will get a 80 GB unit for the PAL region as well?
