Soo, verbal confirmation of 1080p/60 on consoles I assume since on PC you can go higher anyway:), GOOD, GOOD! Also love the fact everything is all dynamic now with a PBR, I guess not being an open world game and confined in a not so massive environment should recuperate the resource used on 60fps, but the game does look pretty sick so far anywayz, hype rising.

There is nothing else literally in the fps space as of now, except COD which is also MP focussed. No one could have imagined this even a year back. FPS was king for too long.
And like any genre that suffers over exposure, the public's interest can wane. The nearest to an FPS purchase I'll be doing this year is MGS V and Fallout 4.

What a world we live in! :runaway:

Yup, MGS , Fallout and Taken King.......I am very happy that UC collection is coming this fall, so that will be my 'happy' game.

Good that fps are getting a rest now, they had all become COD clones anyway.

I'm kinda concerned about snapmap. Are the rooms used for that feature unique to it, or are they recycling single-player material? If they are, doesn't that make single-player maps repetitive and unimaginative?

Also, what about 3D maps. Rooms above rooms and stuff. Exteriors. Windows. Non-rectangular rooms. Stuff like that. Just a series of connected boxes gets old eventually. Or even quickly, as the case may be. Even the original Doom had outdoors maps.

From the sounds of it, the maps themselves might be generic in looks but the flow will be all down to the creator. Most interesting to me is that people can craft new game modes. I wonder just how powerful that is.

Bethesda has released a new trailer for id Software's DOOM that focuses on its SnapMap Editor. Unfortunately, id Software won't release any additional mod tools for DOOM. The game is currently planned for a Spring 2016 release!

Why is that news? It's like Bethesda saying they won't release anything but their creator for skyrim.

A proper level editor for a current FPS game has to be pretty complex, and I'm not sure how it could give you access to the art assets included in the game. Making it user friendly and such would take a huge effort, both in terms of work and money, which is pretty hard to justify. It'd also be incredibly complicated. The times of Doom 1 are far gone.

I'd say people should be happy to get any sort of editor at all. Actually I'd be hard pressed to name any other game that has options to create user generated content at all. Most studios using UE3/4 have probably customized the UE toolset to some level so it's not possible to build anything for these games even with Epic's toolset.

Far Cry games let you make missions and all. Fun stuff that gives access to all assets.

Halo 4's forge mode had similar snapping pre-fab assets to build structures as far as I know. Didn't mess around with that myself though.

Quake 3 Arena with modern day graphics anyone?
...They could have done worse. Much worse! :)

Q3 MP was very fast and very fun as I recall. You didn't die quite as quickly as in UT3 either, which I liked. Well, unless your opponent had just picked up the Quad Damage buff of course, then you were reduced to beef chuck in .1 second. ;)

Don't get me wrong, I meant that as a very good thing!
