Im curious to see other peoples opinions about this as i think resistance is an amazing game - albet nothing new but does everthing just as well as the legendary halo and half life 2 among others

your thoughts ?

On the consoles, there are nothing else that you really can compare to Resistance. Right now it's the best FPS-shooter on current-gen consoles.

I'm playing it right now actually, trying to complete the campaign on Superhuman. Really fun.

indeed :D

failed to mention was the AI in resistance

just awesome!

I dont suppose a mouse+kb work with it? Not that hybrid controller thingie. I played it at school on a roomates PS3, was very nice. Even though he had a crappy 27" old tube TV. I just cant play them with a standard controller anymore. Not since Goldeneye have I been able too. Too PC'ized I guess.

I agree, it doesn't really do anything new (much like a lot of the top FPSs), but it does everything really well, and that's just as important. So yes, it's definitely comparable to the top games in the genre, though I still find that I play other console FPSs a hell of a lot more than resistance. I'm not sure what it's missing, but it's enough for me to prefer other games. Still, it's a great game.

I think it's the best FPS games I've played this gen by far. Very smartly made game,I really liked the choices the devs made in a lot of ways.
They could have gone for more detail but that would have hurt scale and frame rate.
The could have created game play that required very specific solutions, but that would have hurt replayability. I very rarely play linear FPS games over,I played this game four times to completion and appreciated it more each time I payed it.
I can't wait for a sequel.

Yap ! Love Resistance. According to some members in the GAF clan, the game sold PS3 to them :)

The game is deep and the weapon strategy works really really well. I think some newbies may find it difficult (to win). They may also play the "wrong" multiplayer game (Should play ranked games instead of Free-for-all).

Some tips for new comers:
* Join a clan. It helps to prevent your comrades from quiting after a first round loss.
* Learn the maps by going into offline multiplayer or better yet, spectate an ongoing game. You can spectate a game anytime.
* Learn to use all the features of a weapon... starting with Bulleyes and Carbine.

Imo resistance is a good and well polished game, doesn't bring anything new, but does everything well.

I'm however not to big on shooting monsters in games ( i like "realism" or at least shooting people)

??? You can indeed shoot at people during multiplayer (Chimera vs Human, Human vs Human). MP is one of the highlights of the game.

The GAF Resistance clan just absorbed a few 360 members. You might want to check out their comments there ;-)

For games this gen, it's best to play the game yourself before judging.

I fail to see when this topic become about MP exclusively.

If we talk about MP, il take BF2:SF anyday over any other fps game.

Did you fail to read my last post? I have played it. Its a good game, well polished, and does everything well. It doesn't offer anything new, but it does what its supposed to well.

I however, cannot stand games that involves shooting monsters or whatever you want to call it. (i also don't like sci-fi weapons, like lasers and stuff, but thats another topic). Same reason i don't particularly like halo (because you shoot aliens)

Who says anything about "MP exclusively" ? You can shoot at people in MP. As for SP, check others who have played it. The comments are the same. :)

It's great that you like BF2:SF, but in my view, Resistance is still unparalleled in butter smooth 40 player game with weapon combos.

EDIT:

If you say so...

For those of us who play regularly, we learn something new about this game every now and then. I also have not mastered all the weapons yet (They are pretty deep). Opposing teams come up with new strategies that we have to counter every now and then. There are many factors in every facet of the game. When combined and applied by human, it can be very entertaining.

Sure perhaps that's why you didn't see anything new. You hated the genre in the first place and didn't play enough to find out. Resistance is a late bloomer.

Patsu, what is your problem? Are you so in love with this game that you cannot even accept that i don't like fps games involving monsters (or big unrealistic guns for that matter?) ? Topic talks about opinions about this game, i praised the game (because thats my opinion), but said its not my cup of tea.

I HAVE PLAYED RESISTANCE. ITS A GOOD AND WELL POLISHED GAME. I DIDN'T PARTICULARLY LIKE IT, BECAUSE I DONT LIKE SCI-FI\MONSTER SHOOTERS, BUT ITS STILL A GOOD GAME. I ALSO DIDN'T FEEL THAT IT OFFERED MUCH "NEW" TO THE GENRE.

At this, you plant a response suggesting i haven't played it, and talk about that you can shoot humans in multiplayer. That doesn't change the fact that the entire singleplayer is build around shooting monsters (or whatever you want to call it).

It's great that you like BF2:SF, but in my view, Resistance is still unparalleled in butter smooth 40 player game with weapon combos.

Are you suggesting BF2:SF isn't butter smooth? Because that would be related to your PC and your PC only. (don't answer this, no point in derailing it)

EDIT:

If you say so...

Are you implying that im lying to you? Why? Because i don't hail the game as the best thing ever made??

Why would i lie about playing game, and then go on to praise it?

Why don't you go an attack the topic creator, he didn't feel like the game offered much "new" aswell.

Are you incapable of listening to other peoples opinion about a game, if its not as great as yours? Im glad your super happy with it, as far this goes:

This can be said about "every" MP game (with exception for the weapons).

I'm happy for you, that you fell in love with this game, after all its a good game (but as i said, not my cup of tea, as any other sci-fi shooter, i don't particularly like halo either).

Now, try to accept that not everybody likes shooting monsters, and move on, instead of implying that im a liar and questioning my own opinions about a freaking game. geeez.

??? You question about "MP exclusively" and I replied accordingly. Is there anything wrong ?

Your original post says you can't shoot at people in this game. I simply offered a tip that you can indeed kill human in MP... if that's what you want.

You do not follow the Resistance thread in GAF, so you probably don't consider that there are people who have not tried MP yet even though they bought the game and completed SP.

These people later thanked us for telling them about MP. I don't see why you need to be so negative about my response.

Read my post again. It's the total package (weapon combo + butter smooth 40 player + group strategy). Like I said, it's a deep game.

Patsu, look at your post.
For games this gen, it's best to play the game yourself before judging.

You imply that i haven't played the game, which means your calling me a liar. I don't know what country you come from, but where i live, thats not very polite. You may not have meant to say that, but your whole post comes off as if you took offence about me not completely digging your game of choice, and therefore being rude about it.

(And you continued to be rude about it further down).

You also imply that i haven't played the game, which means your calling me a liar. I don't know what country you come from, but in mine, thats not very polite.

Where in the above post did you say you have played Resistance ?

Even if one has played the game...

Some people did not play long enough to get to the interesting part. Resistance pick up its pace about 1/3 into the game.

Some people did not try MP.

Hence, I repeat: For games this gen, it's best to play the game yourself before judging. This applies to other games too.

Dude. Listen to yourself.

WHAT KIND OF ****ED UP LOGIC ARE YOU USING RIGHT NOW??

The topic is about opinions about resistance.

Its therefore implied that when i state my opinion about how good and well polished the game is, that i have played it.

You seem to have a problem with that. (Even after i specifically told you i played it, you implied that im a liar).

You either have a terrible way of wording yourself, or you have some serious emotional problems regarding your attachment to resistance.

Now, go attack the topic creator, he didn't think the game offered much "new" to the whole FPS genre aswell. (or maybe thats okay because he got a little PSN id next to his name)

From being a long time CS and then BF2 player, most consoles games are quite lacking in multiplayer. Halo3 beta was the closest that came to impressing me in terms of gameplay.

The best thing I enjoyed about Resistance was it's story line and quick chapters. It kept the game moving along well. The gameplay itself wasn't anything amazing. Towards the end the game got a bit boring but fighting through the cities and open areas was well done. You felt tense and had to be alert at all times. Indoors, everything was rather predictable but that's the case with most games.

I'd rate it 3rd behind RB6:Vegas (awesome MP and SP and co-op!), Gears (good story, co-op) and then R:FoM

I'd rate R:FoM higher than Gears if it had co-op which I really really they implement in part 2. This game is begging for 4player co-op!

You made an assumption there. It is not uncommon in the flora for people to comment without playing the game or play the game long enough. There is even a review where the reviewer may not have played the MP game enough (or at all ?) to understand it [He quoted a SP weapon that is not found in MP at all]. On my part, I decided to state my position. Either way, you would be able to carry the discussion further in your own manner.

You seem to have a problem with that. (Even after i specifically told you i played it, you implied that im a liar).

Not really. The game picks up pace late in the game, some people hated the initial "no recovery" mode, yet some people didn't fell comfortable with MP. I am just statng the possibilities. Naturally, not all of them apply to you.

In short, I did not call you a liar.
