DOA4 looking better?

Without self-shadowing or some sort of advanced lightiing techniqes, i cant see how you give this game higher than a 4 out of 5.

I don't think technical features like that are the sole measure of good graphics, there are also things like art (style, use of color and design space, etc.) which should probably weigh more heavily.

Whats wrong with that ? Most fighting games show men with thier muscles buldging and no shirts on , or very little clothes also .

Turn about is fair play
What are you talking about very little clothes on? If you mean a wrestling game then thats common. If not then you need to stop playing it.

Male characters in fighting games typically wear pants with no shirt and are absolutely ripped. Well, in 3d fighters anyhow, 2d fighters differ significantly from this; their characters usually dress extremely well and have an effiminent look like many animes.

Stuff like that . A guy with no shirt on . Why is that not frowned upon but a girl in a skimpy outfit is ?

Both sets have nice outfits and trampy outfits . Male and female . I don't see what the problem is .

Why do they have to look like plastic 12 year olds? That's my only question! Itagaki is on crack if he thinks those girls are beautiful. They have T&A but once you see the face it's all of a sudden just creepy.

Looks okay, but as long as it plays okay then that's all that really matters. I imagine it should entertain people that are looking for a fighter on their shiny new system.
I agree 100%. The faces make it *really* creepy. It's like a 10 year old's vision of what they want to look like when they are 18. It feels really really wrong.

Well feminists like Guden Oden are illogical.

Soon, this area of technology will be fully realized, and they'll have to move on to a sadly neglected area: Ass Physics.

(Strangely, I doubt this satirical remark is actually incorrect.)
The DOA girls don't have asses so Itagaki won't be using that.

Bad model

DOA men are always poor design but female are excellent design. I do not think this is because of sexist but because designer prefers female form and so has more attention to design of female models. Maybe female designer who prefers male form will have nice male models and not impressive female models.

Well it might be just me, but ever since PS2 Tekken Tag (where characters went from a bunch of triangles to something resembling rounded human bodies), the model of Jin Kazama was well hot!

i always thought tekken had the best characters in a fighting game. good storyline, good characters, a lot of emotion. (this is of course after mortal kombat went 3d)

Looks like the game has been delayed again in Japan until December 29, but strangely enough, no word on a US delay from the scheduled December 14 release.

I hope it does in fact arrive before the Christmas holiday here in the states.

This has got to throw a huge wet blanket over the X360 Japan launch though :(

Well, it was already delayed from December 14 to December 21.. now according to gamestop's site, it has been pushed back another week to December 28.

WTHeck is up with this game and the constant 1 week delays? Tecmo is going to miss the boat sales-wise if they have slipped to after X-mas.

You gotta think the majority of their sales will be over the next year as the install base grows 10-fold worldwide.

Probably in their best interest to release the best game they can, deadlines be damned, in the long run they'll probably sell more units/systems

May be

I feel women of DOA4 have very "hot" features and custom physics but men do not. So this is why I feel DOA4 creator maybe prefers women.

As I prefer female form so I cannot be certain of "hotness" factor of Jin Kazama. But if you feel he is hot, then that is great. However unlike DOA4 women, which are very "over-the-top", maybe real world men like Jin Kazama not so hard to find? This does not mean I prefer DOA4 women to real world women! But that is different discussion. :)

Well, the DOA women are basically like a series of caricatures on "hotness." I mean that in the sense that the common things that could be considered sexy about a woman in some way or another is scaled up to ridiculous levels. Long legs, big breasts, curves everywhere. Notice that for women who can apparently kick your ass six ways from Sunday, there's no muscle tone at all? Of course not -- significant muscle tone would break up the smoothness of curves. Logic would tell you that if a girl had to fight while having a chest that makes her look like part of a melon-smuggling ring, she'd probably bind them down with bandages... oh, but obviously, we can't have that -- bouncy, perky breasts are all part of the game. Notice that most of their outfits have artificially high waists? Of course -- it makes the girl look like she's got legs up to her face (which for the most part is anyway true). Things like the smooth low-variance gradation of color across the surfaces are all there to evoke the effect of appearing delicate (in the same way you'd look at a porcelain doll as delicate) and driving in that whole "fairer sex" image.

Ive got my fingers crossed that theyve done something better with the lighting, though i know thats pretty much a pipe dream.

I guess it doesn't help much that TECMO isn't sayin much at all about what they are doing with this extra time. All I have heared is that they are tweeking the 'online aspects' of the game for the past month. That seems like a long time to do something like that, but I'm not really an expert in that area either, so...

I just wish they would set a firm date and stick to it. If it's coming in February of 06, tell everyone that, and stop with the weekly setbacks. They have already spent what looks like a ton of ad money promoting the game, so in a way, they are already to the wall because the majority of their ads stress a 'Holiday 2005 Release.'

Usually, that means Christmas release, but I guess TECMO could split hairs and get the game out after X-mas and before New Years. Not a good state of affairs at this point IMO.
