So finally it's not a full parity between the two versions like they had implied 2 days ago in the 900p/1080p face-off. The PS4 version is perfectly smooth when the XB1 version regularly stutters.

But apparently it's not a deal breaker, here, for DF, who really wants a smooth first person shooter?

What they said was it was not a deal-breaker for Xbox One owners, which I take to read that a few hiccups in framerate are nowhere near severe enough to ruin gameplay.

DF said:
As such, what we're looking at isn't exactly a deal-breaker for Xbox One owners - more a minor annoyance that we thought was fixed during the beta phase.

It's a subjective assessment summary based on objective criteria which is explained in detail throughout the article. It's there for people who don't read, or don't fully understand, the full analysis.

You're a real peice of work.

They stressed that their initial article was first impressions, with the actual face off coming at the weekend. They even noted frame pacing issues in the initial article.

You should consider that the problem is you and not DF.

It won't much (if at all) affect gameplay, but it would be pretty annoying for folks such as myself. It's practically tearing level annoying for me. It's not that I'm a graphics whore, its that it grabs my attention and keeps pulling me out of the game. Its unignorable, and not to be misunderestimated. :nope:

I hope they patch it like they did on the PS4. The odd dropped frame would be preferable, and less noticeable.

"game play" was perhaps a poor choice of words, "enjoyment of game" may be more apt.

Personally I have a high tolerance of frame rates (i.e. drops really don't bother me), tearing on the other hand is a metaphorical set of nails scrapping down the blackboard of my vision. I have up on the original Assassin's Creed on PS3 because of the abhorrent screen tearing :yep2:

What we're left with on Sony's platform is a nigh-on perfect 30fps playthrough

!!?

The first screen is the single odd streaming hiccup that the PS4 version shares with the XB1.

The second is one of the rare (also single apparently) frame pacing issue they found in the PS4 version that they generously decided to show us.

That why they also said it was "near-perfect" locked.

I have never noticed hiccups on the Xbox One. Whatever the frame pacing issue is, I am not sensitive to it at all. The game has never stuttered as far as I can tell
I'm not saying it isn't there, just that perception of the issue may vary.

If you're not sensitive to framerate then you're less likely to notice a framerate that drops, or is somewhat inconsistent when unlocked - unless it's truly bad or jarring. It's like saying "I can't tell a good wine from a bad wine, but this wine seems fine to me!".

For example, the scene where you fight three floating witches at once is pretty insane with plasma effects as they all toss massive fireballs at you. Throw in some underlings and it just gets ridiculous. Definitely far more demanding than the early scenes DF is showing. But that is a fair bit into the game.

Just finished this mission on ps4. The performance was flawless.

Who's saying it regularly stutters? No X1 destiny player here myself included have ever mentioned regular studdering at all. This game is entirely playable. It's DFs job to report the differences as neutral as possible but you are taking it way out of context.

Well I stopped using platform owners as any indications of the platforms performance.

Since Bungie has succeeded in parity... should all 3rd party developers strive for a more balance / middle ground approach between PS4/XB1? It seems EA is starting to adopt that approach, which Bungie has succeeded at. Does this make for better gaming or better PR?

This isn't the thread for that. That's a business discussion for the general console forum. I'm sure we had a thread already discussing multiplatform considerations but can't find it.

Starx, do not bring misterx's bullshit to this site.

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water either.

Looking at the comparison, DF choose to steer the outcome to what we all expect it to be based on known capabilities of each machine.

Never stop questioning, you just cheat yourself.
