Diablo III - It's official

I can't imagine going ten levels past that!
I've pained myself through a GR 31 I think with my WD. It took fricken ages, even discounting all the deaths and the resurrection delays. The rift guardian... I must have stood there lobbing my stupid bouncy firebolts at him for 20 minutes I think, dying every couple minutes when he cast some cooldown I wasn't able to dodge. It was horrible, but at least I was able to upgrade one of my gems with high chance of success. As I recall I barely made it anyway.

60% successrate fails 2/3 attempts for me. HA HA HA HAA! *unhinged insane laugh*

@tabs No, I only level a guy to 70 to get the season transmog, and that's it... :D All my main chars are non-season. And :oops::oops: at GR 50 btw...!

Gambled a pair of Zunimassa pants, put on a RROG, and boom. 6-piece bonus! Found that poison dart hat whatsitscalled in my stash as well and put it on... Awesomesauce! Damage jumped considerably compared to my previous item setup. Now, if only the Kanai cube patch was out on live servers too, then we'd really be rocking!

I don't really know what skills to use though to match my fetish army. I've picked a couple not-quite-random ones and they feel like a decent setup, but I've always used that bouncy fireball spell, dogs, gargantuan, eels and piranhas. I don't really grok the rest of witchdoctor's abilities. I want some mana spender that hits a lot of mobs, to activate the extra damage set bonus, that's for sure...

damn it, I used to play WitchDoctor every day and kinda new all the in and outs of this character...but I can't give you any advice as I forgot all :(

Been testing on the PTR a bit; found the wand that makes poison darts pierce and cubed it (haven't dropped for me on live of course, damn teh RNG!), Focus and Restraint, also cubed a RRoG and Jeram's hat which doubles pet damage output. Switched to the piranha tsunami rune, and with the Zunimassa set bonuses, two hat bonuses and the F&R set all stacked, T5-level rift bosses get whupped in about five seconds flat. Ridiculous!

Can't survive very well in T6 however - my constant problem! Friggin glass cannon...! :(

Oh, I tried my barb too - he hadn't finished story mode yet so I had to do that first, now I'm in line to make an adventure game - an hour and fifteen minutes waiting...! The silly huge leg percent drop-rate is making the test realm crowded. :D Shit like this happens when you force everyone to play online*...

Ok, so I had some basic junk on him already. When I played my WD, an ancient leggy 2-hander hammer with a socket dropped. Om nom nom! So I did torment 1 pretty damn easy with that hammer and the other junk I was wearing (yellow rings and level 69 leg amulet, random greens from 3 different sets etc), and with the imba drop-rate, I soon had four pieces of Immortal King set.

It totally kicks ass with just four pieces, but I don't really like it. The Ancients hit so hard they kill a lot of stuff on their own, making it difficult to gain rage, plus they run off-screen and pull shit from way far, making it hard to round stuff up and whirl them down. I found the Skull Grasp ring which helps with that, and one of Bul-Kathos' swords dropped too, which also look like good whirlybarb set pieces once you get both. IF you get both, lol... I've found SO many items on the test realm that have never even dropped once even in hundreds of hours of play. My stash is overflowing with shit, it's ridiculous.

I think there's an entire set intended for whirling tho - Something Something Sands, whatsitscalled? I have a few pieces of that, two or three maybe but it looks like you need all six to make it really worth wearing. *shrug* It won't matter anyway, this char will be wiped in a matter of weeks, making all my "effort" a waste. ;) It's fun to try new things out however so I'm taking the chance while I can...!

*Not that I would play offline anyway, but you just gotta whine about that online stuff don't you? It's obligatory when it comes to D3! ;))

ok that sounds like it's going to ruin the game completely.

I wouldn't say that necessarily. @tabs Monk wipes out a T5 rift boss probably even faster, just with the gearing opportunities that are available right now, and effortlessly wades through damage that lays me out flat in a couple seconds even with the items I found on the test realm...!

I've never had a char anywhere near this power level before. I'm pretty happy about it actually...! :D The only problem is that without the ridiculous leg and set item drop-rate on the test realm it will take me untold ages to acquire these same items once the patch hits on live. I've not seen a single focus or restraint drop on live (or well, not after they made the set ridiculously awesome) for example, not to mention any of the other uber cool junk I've seen.

Yeah it's no problem really. Plus they're adding new levels up to T10 to adjust for the incoming power creep.

I've decided to hold off going on the PTR again. Don't want to burn out before getting the real thing.

A game like Diablo 3 is all about power leaps. If you stop leaping, you stop playing the game, since there's nothing more to do.

D2 had an offline mode, you could mod it in various ways, but that's not possible with D3. You need to be able to gain character power and create new, more interesting builds. The cube, with its ability to grant you additional legendary bonii from a ring, an armor piece and a weapon certainly does that.

I have no issue with this! Quite the opposite!

Seems Blizzard are recruiting a new art director to work on Diablo. Smells like an expansion or possibly a sequel in the works.

Since the start of Season 4 I went back to Diablo 3. This time I created a barbarian, to try something new. My friend and I leveled to 70 in a few days as we only play a few hours after work. Before I got any set item, the barbarian's damage output is quite lacking, and I have to watch my friend, playing a witch, literally melt everything down the road. But then I got two pieces of the waste set (increase rend DPS by 500%) now it's my turn to melt mobs :) Now T4 is not difficult and we cleared GR20 yesterday (and that's being conservative). I use a weapon which increase frenzy to 10 stacks and a belt which enables all runes for frenzy in my cube. When frenzy stacks to 10 the attack speed is insane.

As I recall, my lvl 70 barbarian is a total pussy. I really tried, but I could never get the DPS needed for anything past T2.

On PTR, enough pieces of immortal king dropped for me to light up all the set bonuses. I also found an ancient two-hander and random legendaries for my other slots; this was enough to do a couple tiers of difficulty. I don't remember if I could do T3 or T4, but it wasn't really a problem with that gear.

The issue on live realms is that you can play and play and play and play and not find shit to help you go forwards. And this makes you stop playing. I have one or two characters that do fairly well, but others are languishing, and I'm not really finding any better gear; it's either sidegrades or re-drops of what I already have.

I really like my Barbarian build but the problem with Diablo is that unless it's one of maybe two or three specific types of builds, you just can't get anywhere. I'm hoping the Kanai's cube might remedy that somewhat.

Also noticed checking out the new patch that my Witch Doctor facerolls through T5 now. I'm guessing they spread the difficulty out a bit since the inclusion of T7-10.

I can faceroll T6 with my poison dart WD, as long as I don't encounter any arcane sentry mobs with the wrong other attributes (IE, frozen, waller, vortex etc). I melt in two seconds tops by just one of those beams, and instantly by more than one. Some packs throw out half a dozen or more at once, so very dangerous for me still even though I do heavy damage.

Especially if those mobs are shielded as well, and/or mobs of a cowardly type that flees rather than fight; that's a real bitch.

This is insane. Finally got to add some powers to the cube for my WD. Running Homonculus, Mask of Jeram and RoRG in the cube. With Zunimassa's bonus, convection and haunt, my fetishes are doing 30-60m hits (and there's 23 of them) and my sacrifice does up to 250m damage. Now able to put my mimic helmet back on as well so poison cloud, haunt and pirahnas will be flying everywhere.

Apart from the occasional arcane or other bad combination, even T7 I just tried is ridiculously easy. Uniques literally take a few seconds to kill.

Oh my god I am downloading D3 again and looking through the patch notes: Vampire Bats dmg type changed from fire to physical. This absolutely ruins my build :devilish:. I honestly don't feel like wasting any more of my unlimited bandwidth at this point.
