Destiny [PS3,X360,PS4,XO]

I dunno, you're a lot better than me, but for me my opinion is AE is pretty much just garbage. It's weak, it has poor stability. In regular PVE forget taking down any mid-bosses with it. But that's just my opinion maybe it needs revisiting as I shelved the weapon a long time ago.
I just fully upgraded my AE, and the stability is not bad with the stability upgrade (I take that over field scout) and the longer you fire, it becomes very steady. Plus oracles have a big target.

Skribbles, do you just have one char? There's absolutely no way imo you can run the hard raid much and not be getting significant raid gear. It drops a lot. I think 5 pieces in my two runs tonight.
No, I have 3 characters and they're all 29. I got the Iron Banner gauntlets and boots for my Warlock, only to get the raid gauntlets and boots a few days later as my first raid pieces. Now I still need a helmet and/or chest piece for me to reach level 30.

And yes, it is possible to run the raid this much and not get much gear. I know I'm not alone either.

I have only recently started doing the hard raid. I've only completed it twice. The rest of the 16-17 times were on normal.

So far, this is what I've got from the raid:
4xVoC
2xFound Verdict
2xCorrective Measure
Praedyth's Revenge
Atheon's Epilogue
Plan-C
Universal Remote
Gauntlets and boots
2 ships and a sparrow
(I'm probably missing a weapon or 2)

Again, took me like 16 raids to finally get my first piece of raid gear.

AE needs stability upgrade. It gets quite good after fully upgraded.

Timepiece is, well, garbage right now, except in very special cases. If you go back and see that chart I made, you'll see that timepiece has ~30% lower DPS than the AE, VoC, or Fatebringer. However, if there is arc burn Timepiece is arguably better than Fatebringer, due to Fatebringer being totally overkill, and Timepiece also has a special perk (I think it's a bug) of penetrating knight shields. The basic characteristics of Timepiece is very good, but the damage per hit should be buffed from ~81=>~115 or so to make it competitive.

I fire Gjallarhorn from the enterance to the area.

It's probably better to simply show you. Gjallarhorn is used at around the 4 minute mark on Atheon.

But the Vanguard dlc on destiny was account and region locked.

I only can redeem it on my Asia account. I also can't access it while on US account

Gjallahorn definitely seems one of the transcendent guns in the game, up with IB, and as time goes on seems it is becoming more useful not less in endgame.

I did this calc based on Strange's vid, I normally hop to the bubble and use IB, I bet I'd maybe 70k damage per round that way. Because I estimate 6 crit hits avg per round is all I get. Considering I might get several non crit hits by accident and poor aim, if atheon is moving around. So lets call every 2 non crits=1crit, to go into that 6 crit estimate. So could be maybe something like 4 crits and 4 non crits, or some combo like that.

So with Gallahorn doing nearly 30k/shot, and with homing should be easier to hit, I could up my damage per round from 70k to 210k, in theory. That's a gigantic difference. Not sure one could get two full mags of 7 in, the ammo synth might not time right, but at least one.

How many hit points does Atheon have anybody know? I guess right at 1 million.

By the fact that people can 17 second it with 4 gjallahorns, and we count non-gjallahorners as 50%, probably 5 * 7 * 30k = around 1 million or so.

1 million sounds about right.

I completed my 2nd full normal raid last night with my Warlock. Got raid gloves, shards, energy, and that chatterwhite (sp?) shader that probably everyone has too many of. On the bright side, in two full runs I've gotten boots, chest, and gloves so I'm set for lvl 30 when I get enough shards (I have an exotic helmet).

Still no weapons other than AE though. I would really like to get some weapons. I got AE with my Titan. Do people find weapons are more likely to drop with some characters than others? I know it's supposed to be totally random, but it's weird nonetheless.

Anybody wanna raid together this weekend? I should be available any time you want from Saturday to Sunday gmt+7.

I would definitely raid with you. Unfortunately, I'm on the XBone though.

Maybe someday we can get back to Mechwarrior Online?

Yikes, I completely forgot about MWO. Gotta run the updater when I got home.

@Nisaaru
The random is weird. For some reason I keep getting praedith revenge sniper again and again. No other raid weapon.

I also keep getting ascendant shard instead of ascendant energy.

I suspect this two ascendant should have the same random chance to arrive right?

I also get far more ascendent shards than energy. Have you created a 2nd/3rd character perhaps which isn't maxed yet? I assume there's some weapon cap or they changed the loot/reward table. I've got a LOT of armor in the last few weeks but no weapon that way. Now I have 3 characters (29, 26,6) and while building up my 2nd in the last week I've noticed that it got Strange Coins/Motes faster than my primary one. Maybe there's some psychological model behind it which should enforce you to play a certain way or tries to keep you playing. Or some resistance/logarithmic like system/weekly/monthly cap related to your character(s) and inventory.

I've done normal on all 3 of my guys already, and I think I have a checkpoint at the gatekeeper on Hard. But if you want to do HM from the start and I'm on, I'll definitely do it. I want a chest piece or helmet damnit.

NRP, you're lucky for getting a full set of gear (minus helmet) in 2 full raids... I'm jealous. My last two raids, I got nothing but ascendant materials and chatterwhite.

I did the raid lastnight with a first timer, and he got: gloves, hawkmoon and corrective measure. It blows my mind that it has taken me 10-12 raids to get what some people are getting in 1-2 raids.

edit: I think I'm gonna delete my hunter and make a second Warlock. I already have 2 sets of 30 light gauntlets and boots. This way I'll have more of chance of at least getting 1 of my guys to level 30.

Personally I find the hunter class the least useful in the VoG. Warlocks with sunsinger are best at pushing the templar, and they have the ability to self-revive. Titan grenades also push the templar, and they have the bubble with weapons of light for increased damage and protection from enemies. Hunter doesn't really bring anything special to the table.

Hunter seems like the least sexy class. People seem to want warlocks the most (in terms of desirability for the raid). But it's hard to say how much of that is for cheesing, Atheon and now that that's patched, Templar. Titans seem second and Hunters seem left out in terms of "cool" factor.

That said, people like Strange and Datto have helped me appreciate hunters more. What they do is deal instant, heavy, damage, with Golden Gun, and that sort of tank character is pretty valuable. There seems to be people who think Hunter is actually the best class. It seems like the people who are REALLY good at the game really appreciate the hunter, but there's this divide with the more casual masses, who adore Warlock's. Think about it though, Golden Gun can slay Praetorian's, Minotaurs, and Oracles, which comes into play a LOT.

If you're a Hunter and you turn on Chain of Woe and Gunslingers Trance, you can deal some death.

Also I know Datto thinks Hunter is actually OP and needs to be nerfed. I think that's based on PVP with Bladedancer though.

Bladedancer definitely needs help in PVE...

I saw a pie chart based on destinydb, it was maybe a week or two ago, but more people were actually hunters than any other class, I think it was like 36% hunter, 34% Warlock, and 30% Titan. All three were pretty close but I would have expected like 60% Warlock or something.

Oh and in raid chat the other day somebody claimed hunters were supposed to be better in the next raid. That's hearsay though.

I'll say as a 30 hunter I have NO trouble getting picked up for raids, although I'm pretty sure it's a lot more for the 30 part than the Hunter part. Still. It obviously at least says Hunters aren't looked at as some kind of anchor.

Anyways there's my little treatise in defense of Hunters ;)

I think it's funny people who insist there are patterns here. I guess it's human nature because I look for them too. However I really think it's random and the game has not screwed me in any way. I get about the same amount of shards and energy. Think I have about 120 shards and 100 energy in inventory for example and energy probably only lags cause I use it a bit more because I upgrade more guns than I do armor.

I dunno, I did hard 3X this week as mentioned, and you just get tons of loot. I believe it was 5 or 6 pieces of raid gear at least...

I just find it hard to believe people who dont get raid gear, because for me it seems I cant go two raids without getting some. It just drops regularly.

If you can do hard raid 3x, hitting all 4 loots with each run, skribbles, you WILL be getting a good deal of raid gear. I was lucky this week and all 3 of my runs were from oracles checkpoints, which makes it even more of a concentrated lootfest.

Granted like I keep saying, I get that as a 29 it's a bit of catch 22.

@Rangers I officially envy you :D

You lucky guardian! You are blessed by rngeessuuss.

Do you pray to him before raid or something? Share me the secret.

Btw you are not the only person who lucky. On my clan, there's one person who quickly have all lvl 30 character and every week will keep complaining why he keeps getting raid gear and weapon, just to mock us: unlucky fellow.

Three LV 30 runs every week (=6 normal runs) is bound to allow you to hit 30 really fast.

REAL lucky players hit 30 on their first/2nd normal raid run.
For the record, I hit 30 on my 5th normal run (boots, chest, arms), and I received my raid helmet on my 3rd hard run.

See that's the thing I'm not lucky, I just amass mountains of loot by brute force (meaning lots of play time).

Doing hard essentially equals 24 raid loots per week (4 per raid, but each counts 2X for normal and hard). There's no way you wont get SOMETHING decent out of 24 drops.

Starting on Orcale checkpoints if possible, is even better. Any 29 can beat the oracles with sniping from roof, and then cheese Templar, 2X/4X loots right there with no difficulty. It saves you a lot of time because the confluxes are long, dangerous on hard, yet net no loot.

The game is random though, as we all know, that's why I feel like I have damn near every gun (short of PVP vendor legendaries) but yet still lack my two most wanted, Fatebringer and Corrective Measure.

I also lack pure intellect armor. I noticed in Strange's vid he (if it's him) has some pure intellect sleeves...so they do exist...strength armor is my bane...cant complain too much, at least I am getting some intellect/discipline stat roll drops now.

so, you cant buy the dark below DLC separately?

I know the expansion pass is available, but since it's only going to be a $5 saving over buying the two DLC separately. I'd rather buy them separate. Much as I love this game, who knows if I'll be playing it in another 3 months when presumably the 2nd expansion hits, so no need to prepay for that content. I'll take the $5 hit as insurance in case I dont end up buying the 2nd DLC.

But when I search for Dark Below on Xbox store, it has a page, but the green buy button says "not available".

So are they forcing people who just want to buy TDB only to wait until launch day? That would kinda suck cause I presume it will be a big download.
