Destiny [PS3,X360,PS4,XO]

The lack of customization really sucks.
I finally got new monarchy to l2.. first thing I did, buy the vest. Surprise, it is absolutely identical to the queens wrath vest, just without the ugly decal. There were two available, but they appeared to only differ by stats? ... what's the point? I imagine the vanguard vest is probably identical too. all that grinding to remove a decal.

Pretty much every warlock looks identical, apart from the shader. :(
Even Renegade's pic is identical to mine except for the gauntlets, which I decided not to get.

And you've got to be kidding there is a bounty to get a 25 K/D ration? Serious? The absolute best I managed was 10, and that was mostly because the team was good. I don't see how you could even get that many kills in total in the average match length.
 
its not really 25 KD. i got it with 2,5 KD. maybe its broken or something...
btw the equipment do looks the same again and again, except the Exotic stuff.

Btw anybody in grave need of spinmetal to upgrade stuff, you can farm it at the rate of 1 spinmetal/minute :D
 
I would like to know the thoughts of you guys on Diablo and especially Warframe.
I think its just a matter of expectations being different from what you guys set out to buy.
I used to hate ARPGs for the same reasons sometime back. Then I played Torchlight 2 and things changed. Then D3 came and got me interested. Warframe hooked me and now Destiny has taken my life away.
This was never going to have a HL2 like campaign.
Please have a look at Warframe, its F2P and another brilliant take on the same thing as Destiny. Compare the two then and you will see how much has gone into making this as good as it is now.
 
each game for different taste. i like halo gameplay but i dislike MMO and Random loot. i think thats why i like the gameplay in destiny but dislike the content (repetition, bare bone story, etc).

about warframe i was playing that on PC but i did not succeed in keeping me playing.
 
but from their marketing, this is not the game its supposed to do.
their supposed high points that baited me to get destiny:
- story from world that rich, not like barebone MMO
- story from yourself (i though they means something like BF moments)
- awesome equipments (they even explains each equipment will have different story, names that mirror their powerfulness and your struggle to get them)
- rich content
- etc

basically, from their ads, i though this game will be like Halo but with better online features. But now what i get is MMO that plays like a halo.

Although not all mission is dissapointing, the 1st intro mission and the crota mission is the best for me (in term of gameplay and story).
 
I am not trying to defend Bungie here or anything but you do get pure Halo MP in Crucible and MMOesque Halo in PvE. And HALO with better online can be interpreted as the dynamic co-op we have in Destiny. It can be called the next step after halo

Story turned out disappointing, yes. In fact its a mess. That was one area it could have improved over Warframe and D3. But frankly,the way we all get irritated at the non skipable cut scenes, I am happy there are not more of them. Make them skippable Bungie , for God's sake! That , in fact, is my only real complaint.
As for Destiny Moments: they have started happening. Just the other day we were on a strike and we reached an area where another fire team of 3 was doing the same strike and together the 6 of us just wiped the area clean, waved at each other, customary dance and moved on. It was awesome. Even though they were in their own strike, the game made this one area common for us both. Wonder how they do it, it feels magical. Also, Crucible creates many stories around supers and control points. Especially due to different supers, now that ppl have levelled up their 2ndsub classes , and thanx to unconventional level design where flank s can happen even from above ! I even made some videos of them.
As for the exotic weapons and stories about getting them: that's exactly what was going on in the last few pages here after I got the bounty. The struggle is what ppl are complaining about the most. But without the struggle, the exotics will have no meaning.
As for rich content, its very subjective. I love Warframe while a LOT of my friends hate the procedurally generated levels. In Destiny each level is laboriously hand crafted with perfectly placed cover and nooms and crannies and hidden areas for safety. That's what is rich co tent foreafter playing D3 and Warframes random levels.

My complaint: Bungie said there would be secret missions that would be found by exploring thoroughly and would reward the players with exotic weapons that cannot be attained otherwise. That seems to be completely missing from teh game ! Looks like the idea was completely axed. It would have made Patrolling so awesome ! Bring it back Bungie !!!!!!!
 
Man, that Gaf thread :oops: ! I wanna do the nightfall strike RIGHT NOW !!!! Exotics ! But its the damned Valruc or Talruc or whatever, he is one tough guy to take down even in the Weekly Heroic mode ! It was finally with Bigmanny and his Gaf friend that we did it this morning !

Damn, I tried the nightfall strike this morning, it was pretty brutal. Just brutal! I think I was too mentally tired to continue.

There was a lot of people on reddit who didn't act like solo-ing was just crazy hard. I'm gonna assume they had different, more apt Warlock builds, better weapons etc.

As is, I cant even damage half of the enemies with my primary I swear. They just might as well be bulletproof.

One thing I read is that, I dont know if it's true, but a theory on a weapons attack rating is that it can only do full impact damage to levels of the attack rating divided by ten. If that's true, then my 242 damage AR is suffering against any enemies over 24.

Maybe my lack of a decent primary weapon is just catching up to me. i dont know.

You get exotics from beating it? Ugh, wish I had more time. some say it's the easiest nightfall strike yet by far to solo too. So I'm kinda sad I wont have a chance at it again the next few days and then it'll be gone.

I'm starting to come a little more to the conclusion I probably need to start creating an alt or two. The difference between a guaranteed 2 aMat's per day, and 4 or even 6, well it's just gonna multiply out over time, obviously.

And I keep getting nothing but ascendant energy, my last 5 or 6 times seems like...and shit, kinda seems like I got the worthless motes of light coming out my ass...

Dude, you can't even talk to your teammates in Destiny. There is nothing revolutionary about Destiny's co-op. In fact, it feels like a step backwards.

Its a level 28 strike....I don't think we stand a chance :( ! And its the same damn sucker we couldn't kill yesterday, only with more modifiers and level 28 enemies !

You must be playing with your own party then? From what everyone and even Bungie says, if you get paired up without being in party first (randoms) there is no communication at all. Except for the gestures, like dance, wave, teabag. They explain this is by design because they want to shelter the player from other players. They claim they will somehow improve it but have not explained how or given any ETA.

In Halo MP you can talk to the entire team that randomly paired up via matchmaking.

not for co-op. You can talk to your friends without hassle in co -op.

And for MP they have said they would bring chat lobbies separately for ppl who want chat enabled for all.
Even in BF, we can chat only with our own squad, just saying.
But NRP was talking about coop.
 
Game really need a way for non friends to communicate. It is just way too difficult. Everyone does their own thing. One thing about PC MMOs is the ability to at least type.

yeah i just checked. the boss is Valus Taurus again. Bah.. It is one of the most annoying and boring bos. It only do the same attack again and again and again and again. But it have super high health points :/

the reused Archon thingy is much better. Yeah that boss is repeated again and again in many mission but at least it have many different behaviors in its AI.

Online gaming has a reputation of anonymous gamers hurling obuse, obscenities, and racism/sexism/-ism. No voice-chat means none of that, but also no cooperation. Voice-chat in parties allows you to selectively play with people who you want VC with, I guess, although mute is a more general option.
 
i think the middle-ground is bungie releasing Commorose (Battlefield) or Comm Wheel-thingy (Left4dead) or point-action-thing (portal2) for Destiny.

currently its just impractical to communicate using Point, Sit, Dance. Usually i just shoot player then dance then shoot. Just to attract their attention (for example, i want to tell them here i found a chest).

or... make the in-game world notification context-sensitive. When i point to chest, it should announce to the world
[playername] found a chest

Right, but come on this is coming from Bungie that openly embraced and encouraged "TeaBagging" in their previous blockbuster hit series Halo! They didnt have any issues about not dealing with that for decades and letting the platform holders (Microsoft) handle it on their end with general report/block/mute options. So what has changed? They now provide the game on a Sony platform. Does Sony not provide for those basic operations?
