Destiny [PS3,X360,PS4,XO]

Pretty much called it except for the...whatever it is for PVE that they're not calling an expansion...

It is nice to know, I guess.

Now to guess dates? Spring is officially March 21-June21...I'll predict May or Jun for the PVE update. So that would probably mean October or November for the true expansion (again, it's all about spacing) rather than September. I cant see them leaving a huge gap between September and Destiny 2 in rumored Spring 2017. Unless they've got more filler content like SRL/Crimson doubles for that gap.

Had fun with the daily Regicide mission yesterday. One thing in Taken King some of the daily or quest missions are REALLY hard. To the point of being near impossible to solo. Regicide used to be like that for me so I wondered if I could beat it as a 315+ after all this time. I could, but it was pretty difficult. But it was fun. Reminded me of watching my brother take on some brutal fights (usually underleveled) in Souls, Dragon Dogma, or Witcher 2-3. The music is still stuck in my head, very epic. The graphics are very cool here too. This game, man...

Actually if you know what to do it might not even really be too hard.

There's a few more extremely difficult missions, I forgot the names. It was one thing that definitely changed in Taken King, these weird extreme difficulty spikes (at least, solo). One I remember I think was called Fears Embrace. Actually it's fairly easy if you know what to do, you have to get on top of some rooms and pummel the boss safely from there. If you try to take it normally it's impossible. There is another one I forgot the name of, but you fight a boss (he's an Oryx echo type thing) basically in a circular room, that one is also INSANELY hard solo and unlike the prior level, I dont know of any cheese for it. It's not Cayde's stash level since they sound similar in description. I'd like to try it again near 320...that mission was definitely harder than any nightfall or hard raid. Oh, and the Warsat fight that starts the SABRE nightfall, that would literally be almost impossible solo (although didn't they at least slightly nerf that in a update? but I forgot what they did). Black Spindle fight is also really hard, though now people have good strategies. Still dont know how I lucked into beating that early on as a mid 280 group without knowing any of todays strats that I read on reddit.

Lot of really difficult fights. I used to think the hardest thing in Destiny was trying to stand your ground (nebulous definition, anyway) in a "enemy is moving on each other" event.

Edit's: Fears Embrace was actually the name of that "hardest" level, not the one where you have to get on top of rooms. Here somebody solos it.

Fear's Embrace is the circular room. I did the normal version(easier from the door) and the one with the Wizard for Touch of Malice solo but they are definitely on the upper range of difficulty. But with the right approach both can be soloed even by an above average player.

Blood Garden(No Time To Explain submission) would have also been extremely difficult if you couldn't "cheese" it by dying/reviving yourself without loosing any real progress. Did it solo that way.

Paradox mission's secret part was hell to me for the wrong reason. I did it in a 2-men team and fell down during the jumping mission and landed on this "rock hill" at the bottom of the cave. Getting out of that place on top to the gate took me 20min as I didn't wanna ruin it for the other guy. Each time I died below I was back on the stupid hill trying to crawl up. The last fight in a 2 men team was manageable but not easy.

Top difficulty is definitely Spindle and older SABRE warsat vs. Taken/Fallen.

Another ship I saw that's cool...probably better than that New Monarchy ship I posted. "Hebridean Thoughtcrime"

Evidently it's an Iron Banner drop so at least you dont have to do anything special. I hope it doesn't only drop at rk 5 cause while I play a lot of IB, my strategy tends to be grind til rk5 then not play as much.

I got that ship last iron banner on my warlock from a lvl 5 package. It is slick.

Look what I saw on a banner ad on reddit...www.zertein.com

You can pay these guy(s) to take you through a raid etc...

40 bucks for full run through Kings Fall, $20 for just Oryx, $10 for any single segment...$10 for challenge mode.

I'm not certain if they provide all five other players for a raid, or just one "sherpa" or what...

40 bucks sounds like a ton but when you figure 1-2 hours for a full raid, and if it's 5 helpers? Yeah...that's like $4-$8 an hour per helper, minus overhead (ebay listings etc). Beats turking or whatever they call it I guess, but not much.

Sadly, just like Bungie's $30 subclass booster, I'd probably consider this if the circumstances were right (although it's hard to imagine what those circumstances could be).

The subclass booster would save a lot of time if making a new alt. I'd almost definitely buy that if I ever start up a new alt.

I still need Oryx, hummmm.....

Heh. Was just thinking earlier, I dont know if it's because of Kings Fall's overtly mechanical nature, perhaps the difficulty of a hard mode layered on top of challenge mode (it doesn't seem that difficult, but it kind of is), no revives so any slip up is basically deadly...Kings Fall is getting kind of frustrating to me. LFGing, the problem is it's hard to get in a good group, so many bad attitudes, underleveled groups (or groups with their 1-2 undereveled buddies you know are gonna sink the team just when you get deep into raid, but "it's fine cus he did raid yesterday"), kids (I've started to despise "squeakers", not necessarily because they suck, but because of their annoying banter and attitudes)...you get in a group of 4 or 5 and "hold on, lemme finish this crucible match/strike/phone call...lemme transfer gear...some people act like they have all the time in the world. Then of course you get the people who start getting super pissy when the team wipes twice. It's like you breath a huge sigh of relief when you realize you've found a good, competent, 315+, team...cause they're so rare. Another issue is there's less people playing, so it's harder to get in a checkpoint LFG, especially later in the week. A lot of times you get in that scenario where the group stalls and breaks up around Daughters or so (for me I need to do Daughters/Oryx CP above any each week to increase my odds for that 320 CI). At that point especially later in the week it's getting increasingly hard to come back and finish up just those checkpoints. And if you start fresh, besides more time you just run the whole guantlet of trying to find a decent team again. It all can be a giant time suck that has little to do with actually playing the game. It seems like it takes a half hour to an hour just to find a decent team sometimes, let alone actually play the raid, and sometimes you still dont find that team.

In game LFG/matchmaking wouldn't really solve any of this type of issue, either.

It's probably just a spate of bad luck with LFG lately.

Dont get me wrong I'm not paying, the above is just commentary. The only way I'd do that is if for some reason I had one hour left before weekly server transfer to beat Oryx and he was the only thing between me and a drop guaranteed to make me hit 320 or something (because it'd be rolling dice to find and get in a LFG group competent enough to do Oryx in an hour), which, I cant see any way that could happen (besides I dont think they do instant requests). Hell even then I'd probably just beg rando's on my friends list and others first.

In other personal progress news...I think I'm to the point where although maybe a bit slow I'm fairly comfortable being "torn" on the Daughters. That was really the last part of the raid that was really stressful for me. I also figured out the troublesome part of the transept puzzle (first two jumps). You want to kind of aim, look down at your feet and use your Bones jets to guide down there to the first platform. On the 2nd jump, you want to aim for the longest spike on the LOWER platform, then jump up to the other one. Heck I even know how to sword jiggy up that spine now if needed.

Also, why do people do 8/8 bombs on Oryx? I dont get it, it only increases chances for a bomb screwup and offers zero benefit. It should just be 16 always.

Did my 8 Crimson doubles matches (1 extra to be safe). Already have 320 ghost but a 2nd (I'll probably infuse my Crucible shell to 320) will be nice. It also was a lot of fun and I did pretty well, we probably won at least 5/8 matches and I finished with a k/d over 1 (it was interesting how usually we blew them away or got blown away, no close matches). Which is good because Elimination type modes are one I'm still not confident in. But at this point, I am betting with a bit of a carry I could make lighthouse in TOO if I wanted.

Sigh, finally managed to get the Oryx HM Challenge done this week(first time I tried). Took me 5 different teams. First team was a control freak who kicked people during Warpriest after the first try failed. Took a day Destiny vacation because of that kind of shit. The next one was really nice but Friday evening it was so glitchy it was impossible to complete. The next one was also nice, got close once or twice but people had to leave for time reasons. Next one I was invited in and some people had worked on it for *hours*. Got close too but again time and a lot people fluctuating. Then finally success after a few runs..also a really nice team. Relaxed atmosphere helps so much.

A lot wasted time. It's not really the mechanics there but the small details which can get you randomly.

Anybody notice Super Good Advice is beast in PVE now?? Due to it's various ammo replenishing perks, you essentially never need to reload it. DPS off the charts. I put it over Thunderlord easily as best PVE MG right now.

I'm excited to incorporate it into my Daughters/Oryx loadout as it out-DPS's touch of malice on those encounters. Always looking to tweak and improve my loadouts...

Oh and I went back and tried Fears Embrace again as a near 320, beat it without too much trouble now. SGA helped there too.

Just a mission that in my memory was *bitterly hard* (solo). Almost impossible. That was at some lower light level though (dont remember what).

It's not too bad if you go back as a near 320 though.

I forgot already what planet it's on even though I played it again the other day. It's recommended 260 light, at which level I think you'd get utterly slaughtered...

Anyways, the IB weapons are useless this time, I already have the sniper with a better roll and it's not even as good as 1kys. The RL doesn't have G&H. Good for PVE but who cares really. I'm doing IB anyway cause I spend X hours in crucible every week anyway, might as well spend em in IB! Also being 318 now in Crucible I feel like helps me a bit with k/d in IB versus standard crucible, so that's a plus.

I infused my Mida to 318 and it's helping. Had a few games already over 2.0 k/d. In order to hit 1.0 k/d globally, I still need like 1180 more kills than deaths...gonna take a while, but it's been my long term goal.

I'm fooling around with a Conviction II Sidearm(Rangefinder,Outlaw,Quickdraw) in IB and it doesn't disappoint at all. With the right map and circumstances I survive encounters I probably wouldn't have with a shotgun and fusion.

I did replay a couple of hours of the demo. Gunplay is still as satisfying as before but man the graphics need to be updated. After 2 years of current gen games, those textures and lack of details really looked old gen.

When will they ditch the PS3 and X360 versions?

I find the graphics still very impressive given the MMO/multiplayer nature.

Like, I'd still easily put them up with The Division. So detailed.

They went all out on the opening level of Taken King too.

I imagine they will ditch last gen with Destiny 2.

Yay, the 320 cloak dropped. I'm 320 now!

I infused my "pretty" cloak from the speaker to 320.

Didn't take that long once I only needed cloak (a few weeks? 6-8 raids?) ...somehow I didn't expect it to. I think maybe the game looks at your loot if you need a 320...
