Destiny [PS3,X360,PS4,XO]

you just started playing Guardian and you want exotic engrams ! ! ! I do not detest the loot system at all. 99% of loot in Diablo3 is anyways waste, all white, grey and other shit. Getting a legendary or a set in D3 is equally tough.
Raids anyways provide assured loots if u feel so. You just need to level up, there's enough loot in Destiny, IMO. Level 3 Cryptarch isn't much of a level at all, its 3. Play the Vangard playlist, its the quickest way of getting legendary engrams.

The only thing that has me aggravated is the cap on Ascendent shards in a day. Daily is the only way to get it, with a chance one might get energy instead, and there also u can't get more than 2. That seriously stops ur levelling.
But Diablo does not restricts you out of game modes and severely penelises you for taking on enemies even 1 level higher. Also you should compare this game to Borderlands, you get great weapons there on a very regular basis, and you don't have to deal with this much excessive RNG crap. What Bungie is making you do is forcing you to grind considering how much time it takes to build up the different currencies and reputation in the game (which again would be less tedious if it had more content).

I might have just started but I've played over about 24 hours, that's a lot of time to never get even one legendary drop/engram or whatever, especially when it is perfectly possible for someone to get it within the first hour...and I am not even talking about exotics, just legendary. Considering all of that I think my complaint is fair. I've never managed a drop that has given me a gear better than what I have equipped, hell the drops I get are still +7 light crap.

As for the bolded, well isn't that why I am complaining? Cause my rank is tied to my stupid gear.

That's a lot of ships.

Also looks like it will carry on the legacy of being content starved from the main game and the first DLC, same old 3 story mission, two strike (I am guessing only one for Xbox one), and one raid. And will use the same areas from the map with 2-3 extra rooms. So disappointing, but the gunplay is like drugs.

On a separate note I got my first exotic today through Iron Banner (still no Legendary). It was a rocket launcher, boo hooo !

Speaking of fairness and unfair advantage, can I just say that for a loot based game (one where the loots are needed to even access the contents cause otherwise the game locks you out), Destiny does a piss poor job at providing you with the said loot. Because they are completely dependent on RNG, it does not matter how many hours you sink in or how well you do in crucible as they do not affect your drop rate at all, and that is a quite frustrating. How would they account for the fact that someone can get high level gear in 10 minutes while some can't get it even in 10 hours. I've given up expecting for a legendary drop, I'll just upgrade my vanguard/crucible stats.

I want to do raids with my friends and I need to reach level 28 for that and so far I haven't gotten a single drop that's above rare. How am I suppose to do this if all I get is rare gear that is worse than what I have equipped ? No level progression since last 3 days and I have played loads, I'm level 2 in both Crucible/Vanguard and halfway through approaching level 3. Have 100 vanguard marks and 80 Crucible Marks.

Yet I've never managed a legendary, I am Cryptarch level 3 meaning I've decoded a shit ton of engrams and after level 15 or so I've never managed a gear better than what I have equipped, never even seen a purple or gold engram (well I guess that's raid stuff, but hey the game won't let me play raid).

Story remains the same even after 10 hours

I've got probably 500 hours in the game. i dont WANT you to be able to walk right in and hit level 30+ in 30 hours or something...

You should stop crying. Geeeez the whiners in here, wah wah I didn't get all the loot I demand right now! Why am I not the highest level in the game right away this game sucks!

If Diablo and Borderlands shower you with "great" loot all the time, then they are easy games for noobs. there's no two ways about it.

If they give you tons of great loot, does that mean the loot is great in allowing you to defeat enemies easily? If so then the game is too easy. If not, it's not great loot.

I think Destiny gives you quiet a lot of "loot"...at least me it does.

House of Wolves looks cool, glad no more hive crap...will be fun. I wonder what the new weapon cap will be? Is it just me or is that quite few new weapons?

That new exotic scout...drool...I love me some scout rifle...I just hope it's not crap like most exotic primaries...give it some punch Bungie.

On a separate note I got my first exotic today through Iron Banner (still no Legendary). It was a rocket launcher, boo hooo !

Which One? Gjallahorn is one of the most prized weapons in the game. Truth is also very good, though no Gjallahorn. Dragons Breath=meh.

You're missing the point and being unfair. Nightshade isn't saying he wants Awesome Loot so much as he's saying he wants to be able to play with his friends. The Awesome Loot is necessary to unlock access to that content, which is (by his account) limited by chance. Ergo you can have four people buy Destiny, play it however many hours, and three of them get gear to unlock the next joyous experience while the fourth is still rummaging around the Boring Lands trying to get gear to level up and join them.

If the entry requirements didn't prohibit his joining them in the next area, he'd have no argument (although may still grumble at less loot than others!).

You are equating grinding and absolute luck with toughness. Starving you out of content and endlessly asking you to grind or hope to get something is not "tough" . My problem is not that I want weapons and loots, my problem is that I want to play the damn game with friends which it won't let me because of the light crap. My friends have been playing this game for months and it took them a long time to reach 25 when they first started, I got here in less than a week by being good with bounties and just being good in Crucible. I was in control, my progression was dependent on my skill rather than my luck and the amount of time I have spent in the game. Now however, my skills do not matter but the amount of time I spend in the game do, and I think that I as a skilled player want to and should be able to achieve things faster than other players who are less skilled than me but spend more time to compensate for this otherwise what differentiates me from them?

I would not even complain if the leveling system was not this padded and not tied to your gear. Why do people play raids and dungeons and pretty much everything ? To level up and acquire better gear right? But if the game does not allows me to play these things without an endless amount of grinding in a limited amount of content (just so that I can grind some more with friends) then it's just poor design. You can claim playing a measly amount of 6 strikes (that take 20-30 mins) and 3 competitive game modes over and over and over again for 30 hours with no real progression is "tough", but I will disagree.

Get gear for leveling up <---> level up with gear....the paradoxical nature of this system is the most baffling thing about Destiny and I cannot understand why you are having a trouble seeing that.

It also does not matter if you've spent 500 hours to reach 30 and don't want me to, my experience is not tied to yours and neither is your experience tied to me. There are people who have reached 30 much much earlier than you because of how the game works and I probably will reach 30 in a week or two as I am just waiting for Xur now, would that make you unhappy now then? The game is not tough it's just annoying in the way it actively tries to prevent you from doing/getting stuff. Anything Bungie does or introduces is just more ways to grind. There is a reason this game is sitting in low 70s and getting this much flak from everyone. Were it not for the highly addictive shooting I would not be going back.

why you are upset with other people reaching high level faster than you? O_O

since begining, i keep seeing people with higher level than me and it does not bother me a bit. Heck, friends with higher level is beneficial for completing bounties, missions, strikes, etc. It became easier.

@nightshade
Which exotic rocket launcher did you get?

If it's Gjallarhorn, don't cry. It's one of the best weapons in the game. Truth is okay too. Also, Dragon's Breath is not bad either, I guess. But neither are equivalent to Ghorn.

There is a sure way to get legendary items, vanguard. And it's pretty easy as well. You get 100 marks doing the vanguard strikes and you get xp and often bounties go along. You patrol the moon and do missions while picking up mats. Of the grind I have done the destiny grinding is the most rewarding and simply more entertaining.

Legendary engrams doesn't drop that much, it's pure luck, but the game is not in no way centered around that luck. You can get most of the stuff just by playing the game.
Even exotics can be bought from Xur every week.

Tldr, don't worry night shade :)

the gunplay is better in Titanfall and L4D for me. But the whole running, jumping, shooting experience is much better overall in Destiny. Too bad the freedom is even worse than claustrophobic Battlefield 4 and more limiting than Titanfall.

Man, i hope Destiny 2 will be much better not worse

dont be something like BF4 thats even more limiting than its predecessor, pleeeeeeease.
or Halo 4 thats more cramped than Halo Reach (although Halo 4 still have a fair amount of big areas)

With all the double jumping and boosting I do wish the FOV was a bit wider, it's quite easy to lose track of players you are already aware of that are near you if they jump and hover. Why do console games severely restrict FOV I'll never understand.

Yea that's what I've been doing. I've 100+ got marks in both crucible and vanguard.
Just waiting for the reputation to build up, short of like 600 or so for each. And it's taken an awful lot of grinding and dedication to do it in a relatively short time by consistently managing to complete both crucible and vanguard bounties, That plus an exotic purchase from Xur should be enough to bump me up a level or two. Once I get to 28 I will be doing VOG with some of my friends and hope to hit 30, then I can play Crota.

it's easier to get Crucible reputation and marks up for me at least as the bounties pay more on average and some of them are quite easy and fast to achieve.

@NRP
It's Truth.
It's ok, My friend has a Legendary (can't remember the name) which is just as good with same damage, almost similar features (both track targets, his rockets explode into a cluster while mine will explode if they detect anything on their way), same magazine size.

can you buy materials without leveling up the Vendor?

Because long time ago, my marks got max cap before i can buy any weapon/armor from vendor :( (there were no materials to be sold).

Gauntlets+Boots need no recommendation mark but all armor needs lv2. The whole idea behind the recommendation marks is forcing people to complete bounties than just using Vanguard Raidlist or Crucible(no experience) for marks.

Gauntlets and Boots need level 2 reputation, Helmets need level 3 reputation plus 1 Commendation.
I do not know what Commendation is, so I am assuming it is what you get for every level that you gain after level 3. They added this Commendation thing with The Dark Below to add more grind to the gears.

"Guardian, you are mankind's last hope"

"okay whatever, i want to buy this helmet"

"Guardian, you need to have our commendation to have the right to buy stuff from us"

@nightshade
Truth isn't bad. It has really aggressive tracking and void damage, both of which will serve you well in the VoG raid, not to mention Nightfall strikes with void burn.

You certainly could have done worse with your first exotic drop.

I dont care that much...but it seems a bit unfair.

I guess it's the way of MMO's though. They dont want to keep new players away with the threat of much grinding to reach endgame, so eventually they introduce shortcuts with expansions. Chiefly right now I think, being able to simply purchase level 31 armor.

You will still be gated (after buying your new 31 armor) by shards , but only to a little extent I think.

I would like to know how many hours it takes nightshade or any new player to say, reach level 30-31. Just for curiosity.

I guess the principle thing my time investment has bought me is a vast arsenal of weapons, and of every elemental...and even that, I'm unsure how hard it would be to replicate quickly. It might not be that hard to quickly get together a decent armory.

But I enjoyed that time so not really complaining.

It is just another way to keep people from just rushing to buy 31 armor even more quickly. Shouldn't be that hard to grasp.

Commendations themselves do seem like a bit of a misstep though. Simply because you quickly have no use for them and they just stack up uselessly, and every inventory slot is already precious.

It's not to add more grind...it's because you couldn't just buy 31 vendor gear before, It was at best 29 gear.

So yes it's to add more grind, but only because they already cut a whole lot more grind out. Somebody like me who played from the beginning, ground a lot to hit 30, which was only possible through Vault of Glass gear. You being a latecomer, can now just waltz in and buy 31 gear from the store. Kind of unfair.

This is apparently standard MMORPG fair, they give a quick way for players to catch up with a new expansion.
