Dato's thoughts. I've been waiting for these
He says it's more, improved, Destiny. Dont expect sweeping changes. That was obvious from the videos IMO. Gunplay is basically the same.
Unlike me he's very happy with the visual upgrade, thinks it looks fantastic, especially on 4K PC, which he raved about.
The Strike was basically like current strikes. Better than a year 1 strike but like a Taken King strike.
For PVP, he notes it's slowed down a lot. No more Titan skating or Warlock skating. He thinks Bungie didn't intend these and it screwed up their balance. Also, all the guns do less damage, which means a longer TTK. I'm all for it.
I noticed the hand cannon was hitting for less, so I had picked up on that, but I didn't know if it had something to do with multiple primary slots having different power levels or a different archetype or what. But now it's confirmed.
Also the Supers now take more damage from similar elemental, so if you pop a solar super, you will take more damage from a solar primary.
He thinks heavy will be toned down now that it's in one "power weapon" slot along with things like shotguns. Makes sense.
As already noted it seems like Int/Disc/Strength is no longer in the game. Not sure what I think of this as it does dumb down armor speccing. It seems like another ,move to casual-ify the game. OTOH reduced ability cooldowns are sorely needed (but they could have done that without removing I/D/S) and the system was kinda annoying. I talked about transmog but, no Int/Disc/Str stats would sorely reduce the need for it (you'd just have to worry about perks), maybe that was one of Bungie's goals.
Power ammo only spawns for the one player who gets it. In addition, the screen tells other players who got the power ammo and what they got.
I dont know much about Halo but from what I do know, it seems Bungie is just copying the Halo "power weapon" formula now.
Reddit wont be happy about slower TTK's, but, F reddit. Go play COD if you want fast TTK.
I'm also thinking 4v4 was a way to reduce lag because there was so much bitching about it. If so, another case of the community ruining the game...
I also hope hand cannons are YET AGAIN not the only viable primary in crucible. And I'm eager to see how bad they treated hunters. We already got screwed in the sense Titans and Warlocks got entirely new supers, and we got essentially the same exact thing again. So right away Bungie is off to a typical start, Hunters screwed.
