Destiny 2

It's official, D2 PVP sucks.

It just doesn't feel right at all. There feels like no sense of skill at all. All that matters is who is teamshooting and you cant overcome it.

I also think the 4v4 and cramped map is a big problem. You cant go anywhere...people play the objectives because what else are you going to do they're all 30 feet away from each other...

I predict this is going to fail big...it will not have near the longevity of D2 crucible I bet...

As of now I barely feel a reason to buy Destiny 2. The PVE stuff looks like Destiny 1.5. The Crucible is a big change, but for the worse.

Low latency/Shrinking player pool lead to 4v4, 4v4 needs smaller maps, smaller maps need slower guardians, slower guardian needs slower TTK because they can't escape fast enough anymore. A chain reaction from one bad decision lead to a meltdown of the franchise.

And it's not fixable because the game is designed based on the changed principles.

But the gear of beta. Isn't even close to real gear. None of anything we use is even found in the end game.

Destiny 1 had the same problem trying to PVP at earlier levels. (One of the reasons why I don't like RPG based PVP, the game can never be balanced properly, even PVE split from PVP not all classes can be buffed individually to be balanced across the board)

That's part of the problem of trying to shoehorn a game meant for RPG fps leveling up into PvP where abilities and levels need to be essentially the same at the start sans picking up powerups, weapons and heavy ammo.

Just had a match where there was an actual comeback. "We" won, 75-73, and Shaxx said we lost. But the score and screen said we won (we won). Kinda funny glitch.

That's another criticism I'd have, there's hardly ever comeback's it feels like. Regardless. I never feel like my play affects much.

Nightshade is better than Nergal I think. And I run the AR with 51 in the mag in the other slot.

So far I LITERALLY never remember to use the hunter dodge. I figure reloading the mag will be the only small benefit, so i put that one on. Now that I think about it though, would be very helpful in CQC if I could remember to use it...

The full game could be better, and I'm getting used to it somewhat. I can see it converging on tolerable.

Honestly I haven't loved the strike either, the boss is hella bullet spongey, and I dont really "get" the encounter in terms of WTF am I supposed to be doing. The rest of the strike feels overly vast, too long, and again like I've only run it twice, I dont really know what to do to avoid the drills, so it's just kinda odd and annoying. Dont "love it". Boss fight is like mired in muck, dont love having to worry about falling off a small area all the time against the boss. Would like to see better animation on these bosses too, not just kinda, "big statue" just like D1.

I'd like to play the card, 'well, it's just a beta'. But I get where all these expectations of the sequel is coming from, and they aren't meeting your expectations, but I think that's not necessarily a terrible thing either. They did indicate on twitter that the beta was just a slice of the game, and they wanted to keep a lot of stuff hidden for the full game.

I appreciate that, considering how much the first beta was actually 1/2 the game. There was still more story in the beta than all of D1.

Personally I just dont really care about the story. Everybody hated Vanilla Destiny story but it was the best IMO. It was serious Sci-Fi and it was mysterious, and I miss Dinklebot so much. Now they made "characters". Like it's intergalactic war but there's like 8 friends characters it revolves around or something, feels so weird to me.

Now, I'm aware of this thing that, you always have nostalgia for what was first, but you cant replicate that point in time. Like I have nostalgia that NES games were the funnest thing ever. But if I play them today, they suck. So I think me liking the Vanilla Destiny story best is probably nostalgia, but it's still how I feel.

I see this flaw in other people on reddit all the time, people say/think year 1 crucible/Destiny was best. I dont think it was really best, just fresh to us. I know I tend to fall into the same trap but about D1 vanilla story...

Agree on that front. I too [referred the mystery and not knowing your place in the universe vibe of D1. Everything was bigger and badder than you, you were just an insignificant nobody amongst millions other Guardians who was pushing on. I liked the feeling of the shole thing over the personalised approach of Rise of Iron and now D2, where you are addressed directly by "important" characters like a super hero or something. It doesn't fit the fantasy correctly and loses the mystique and feeling of being a David against a Goliath !
I hated it when they said we have way more cinematics in ROI and I hate it when they say the same for D2. Conematics is not what males Destiny, its a waste of efforts, as far as I am concerned. All those flashy cinematics of ROI did nothing to help Destiny and were never watched more than once. Gameplay was and is Destiny, spend all time there. its not a regular campaign based game and they should stop trying to appease and appeal to that audience who is anyways going to sell it off after playing the campaign. They should focus on the audience that wants to play "Destiny".

On that note, I already miss the beta and I can see myself buying games here and there to feed that emptyiness :( !

People also praise the strike...what are they doing! It felt disjointed and terribly designed. Boss encounter is a real slog. And, did people notice our guns are a lot less powerful now in PVE just as in PVP? Also scout rifles are extremely underpowered in PVE too, ugh Bungie ruins everything I like, hunters, scout rifles...

That said gorgeous visuals and vast scale.

All that stuff seems to be getting addressed. Lots of info in there :

As for the strike i liked it since it felt different from a d1 strike, had a lot of change of scenery and encounter types too .

It was a long sight seeing tour with spurious fights and a completely uninspired boss fight which lacked any kind of apparent structure. From all the arguing on reddit about it I came to the conclusion that a lot people which enjoyed all these changes in D2 aren't analytical enough to have a valid opinion or simply wanted a different game regarding PvP.

Yeah, but it's a step up compared to destiny 1 strike where you basically did nothing other than sitting sniping the boss from afar for most strikes.

But in D1, the gunplay itself is superb. D2 is lacking

Did D1 have an option to tur Aim assist off? D2 Beta felt a bit strange after playing Battlefield1 while being in total control. D2 still controls well overall but i'd rather have no assist. I'm not too interested in the game anyway for various reasons.

Kinda.

You need to equip certain scope with certain perk to almost totally disable any kind of auto aim and assistance

@Rangers may able to recommend the stuff you need. He (she?) have deep knowledge of destiny guns

Yeah I mean, I guess there's guns with higher and lower AA values. So you could look for guns with low AA, like a lot of the high impact scouts almost always have very low AA. Some snipers have low AA as well, and I'm sure any genre of gun in the game has some entrants with less AA.

Now, I bet a low AA Destiny gun still has buttloads of AA compared to none, so there's that.

Those things that fly around in the plague lands, the little droid things, those have no AA applied. It's a nightmare trying to target them! A fun example of just what an effect AA has.

Man that's a great point. Dunno if I'd go so far as lacking but now that you mention it even in PVE it doesn't feel as good.

In D1 it's so satisfying popping heads. In D2 it's very infrequent...I guess because instead of taking 1-3 shots/bursts to kill enemies it's now more like 3-5. It doesn't seem like any enemies are 1 shot head pops anymore. Makes the gunplay feel worse.

If Bungie screws up D2 gameplay they could have big problems since I think that was the main draw of the game...

I think it's the hit registration that seems to be off a bit. Sometimes it can feel pretty good, other times not so much. I mentioned this in one of my earlier posts and I've since heard other Destiny content creators mention it as well.

My guess is Bungie universally lowered the range of the weapons, effectively lowering the aim assist outside of each weapon's range. But at the same time, even melee hit registration seemed off so who knows.

I hope that's something Bungie can easily tweak for release. I think it's a pretty common complaint.

Holy Smokes, European Dead Zone gameplay leaked (been harshly removed off youtube at every turn) looks fantastic! Excellent graphics, my jaw dropped a little initially. Although I will say the initial playspace looks cramped, I assume that's just random and not a limitation imposed by the graphical bar https://vid.me/Qd3EM

I told myself I might not even get this but yeah, as it approaches, probably gonna have to get it...

Edit: after watching the whole footage the stuff they're doing seems pretty much the same as D1. Plus, I kinda prefer the clean openness of the Cosmodrome vs this that seems more like Venus in D1, kinda walled off, in this case by constant buildings and trees. Perhaps the open areas are on another planet, but then again most of them have a too busy or muddy aesthetic.

Yep I might miss the Cosmodrome..

Edit: reddit took a pic of the NPC available I guess in the wilds in the new footage https://i.imgur.com/QiEcZjw.jpg
